The station boast a very large food area well spread out with food to suit any palate from American to Korean to excellent Waghyu beef steaks to traditional Japanese meals. There are also various small shops and supermarkets for basic shopping available .the Kyoto tower is situated not far from the station

We were delayed for nearly two hours due to wind blown object on the track. Didn’t arrive until after 930. An announcement was made that we were due a refund. A man stamped our tickets and said office was closed to come back tomorrow. So next day we attempted to get our refund. Office man said too late it expired. I explained that the office was closed and we were told to come back. After 10 minutes of back and forth he reluctantly gave us less than half our money back. He was rude and kept waving me to go away. Horrible experience and I have nothing good to say and would give zero stars if possible.

Took the railway from Osaka to Kyoto. There were issues with things blowing on the track and we were stuck for an extra 2 hours. There were announcements made on the loudspeaker that our money would be refunded. We followed the directions and got our tickets stamped. We were told to return the next day as the JR office was closed. Upon returning the next day and explaining what happened, the man behind the counter said the time had expired to make a claim. I said your office was closed and we did what we were told to do. The man was very rude and kept waving me to go away. Told me "too bad". I kept explaining and eventually he gave me a third of my money back. The hole thing was a nightmare and his rudeness was the icing on the cake. Rude people should not be working the counter.
