Your day begins with pickup from your Port Douglas hotel. The fastest ride out to the reef from Port Douglas, the ultra modern 29 meter catamaran will be your base for the day. Throughout the day you'll visit three locations on Agincourt Reef, each showcasing a different aspect of the beautiful Great Barrier Reef. The cruise has exclusive access to 22 premier internationally recognised reef sites and you have the choice to snorkel, dive or a combination of both. The friendly crew will be happy to answer any questions you have throughout the day. The boat features full bar facilities, fresh water showers and expansive sundecks overlooking the Coral Sea. A tropical buffet lunch will be served between sites, along with morning and afternoon tea.

Agincourt Reef

Agincourt Reef sits at the very edge of the Great Barrier Reef, a ribbon reef running parallel to the Continental Shelf. There is a multitude of marine life at Agincourt Reef, from tiny iridescent fish seeking shelter in their coral homes to massive giant clams weighing up to 200 kilograms (440 pounds).

If you have never tried scuba diving you can choose to do one or two introductory dives, or you may prefer to stick to snorkeling and explore all three sites from the surface. A crew member will take those interested on a guided snorkel tour at one of the reef locations. Certified divers can choose to partake in up to three certified dives. Whatever you choose, your Outer Great Barrier Reef Dive and Snorkel Cruise includes up to five hours in the water. We recommend you book this reef trip on your first full available day. You then have the opportunity to be flexible and change your travel date if you wish. Your booking can be changed at no additional cost directly with the operator once you are in Cairns. Prebook and secure your booking, but relax in knowing you can make amendments at no charge.

Great intro dive, excellent crew and team leaders to introduce me gently into the amazing Barrier reef

Weather a little overcast and ocean quite rough so some passengers weren’t coping. Although I loved my snorkelling experience and I will remember it well the actual service provided , in my opinion, was pretty ordinary. Morning and afternoon tea provided ok, lunch was fairly ordinary. Marine talk average, I would’ve loved to learn more about the different types of fish we were seeing, lucky I had been to the fabulous cairns aquarium previously so had a good understanding of the reef etc. Staff seemed more focussed on the scuba divers and , as a solo woman in her 60’s, I felt like just a number. Whilst staff were helpful, they spent the majority of the trip interacting, laughing and joking with each other. It would have been nice to have been approached and asked how I was going, you pretty much get left to do your own thing. I had a new little underwater camera however didn’t have a wrist strap. I was offered a handle to hire for $30. I took up the offer only to have my camera waterlogged and useless after first snorkel 5 minutes in. No solution or refund was offered. The extremely overpriced photos that were taken and on offer were not worth buying. I think the photographer (who was working hard) only took pics of family groups and younger passengers, us solo old girls don’t get a look in. At the end I overheard a passenger talking to a crew member thanking him for taking her kids on an assisted dive, when she offered to pay for it, he just laughed and said let’s consider it prepaid.!!!! I was unimpressed considering I had paid over $300 for my trip. Staff should take more care and perhaps have those conversations away from other passengers. Overall I absolutely loved my snorkelling experience, however, felt the abundance of staff could have been more interested in their passengers and how their day was, not skylarking and having fun with fellow staff. I won’t be recommending this experience I believe a smaller and more personal group would have been more beneficial.

Sensational day out, the crew were fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling at 3 different locations! Highly recommend you do this adventure. Great lunch included with both morning and afternoon tea.

I did 2 x beginners scuba dive. I have dived on the reef once before. The first dive our group had some teething problems- no fault of the instructor. The entire time the instructor was holding on to us. The second dive went much smoother but the instructor still held on to my arm the entire time. It drove me nuts. When I got out and asked her why she held on to my arm the entire time she said I had buoyancy issues and apparently I kicked the coral ( which surprised me) . You know what it’s very difficult to balance in the water when someone has your arm. When your off balance you do have buoyancy issues! Why not have the conversation before the 2nd dive about what needs to be improved to be able to swim independently. Not enough instruction given on how to improve between dives. An extremely frustrating experience. Apart from that the snorkeling was fantastic except the third site which was very average. Staff were nice and the catering was good. The diving experience unfortunately a letdown compared to my previous dive where I didn’t have someone hanging on to my arm!

Excellent boat tour with opportunity to dive even if you are not certified. Stops at the GBR had lots of interesting wildlife including a white tip shark.
