Museo Nacional de Antropologia

Among the most important museum spaces in Mexico is the National Museum of Anthropology, an institution that is part of the National Institute of Anthropology and History. The origin of its collections dates from 1825 when the then Emperor Agustin Iturbide created it as part of the policies of the Mexican nation. Later, Maximilian of Habsburg assigns the former Mint as a precinct. For 1887 the space was reorganized with important works of the pre-Hispanic period; thus the great monolithic hall opens and, in addition, legislation and research spaces, such as the General Inspection of Archaeological Monuments of the Mexican Republic and the Department of Ethnography, together with the rooms of Anthropology and Ethnography.
