Old City Gates

In 1808 St. Augustine’s residents erected the pillars of the City Gate using coquina blocks. (Some say it was a way to keep pirates out.) Our guide goes into the history of how and why the gate still stands today. A much overlooked piece of Augustine history!

On our tour we pass by many iconic landmarks, shops and museums. Here, while we do not go in, our guide can help book tickets for after your tour and we dive into the history of the pirate history in the area.

The oldest masonry fort in the continental United States, the Castillo de San Marcos is a Spanish stone fortress built to protect and defend Spain's claims in the New World.
