Amazing summers in Montenegro! 🤩 Went this summer with my teenage son on an epic tailor-made trip: a mountain hike in the Accursed Mountains and packrafting on the Tara River, with gorgeous wild camping sites in both places (we're starry skies and zero light pollution!). This is my second time joining a trip with Balkan Expeditions; I was so happy with my 2023 solo trip in Montenegro with Gigo, that I didn't have to think twice about who to contact for making this summer something special too (with focus on my son). My main hope was being in amazing surroundings with few tourists, as well as being as authentic & local as possible, and BE definitely knows all the best secret spots! We felt we were alone in this beautiful landscape, and that's not something that is a given.
Dinner and breakfast while on the river made by a local family was also top-notch, and just added to the authenticity. Our guides (Martin, Lovre & Mirko) went out of their way and made sure everything was taken care of and that we were happy - amazing persons! Also, it was epecially good that the initary was changed last-minute because of an incoming storm, and the chosen route was probably even more perfect! 🙏
All in all an amazing trip, and definitely recommend 100%. Will come back! (But probably not 3 years in a row 😂)

Went on the 4 day/3 night pack rafting guided tour down the Tara River. There were 4 of us all over 50. We had the best time, day one learning how to control the pack raft, some gentle rapids, getting steadily harder as the days progressed. My friends did really well, I came out a few times, each time the guide calmly gave me easy instructions to follow, got me back in the pack raft and we all carried on. Scary at first but loads of fun. Mio and Ivan our guides were amazing. The accommodation on each day has the best home cooked food and great views. Day 2s accommodation the toilet and shower were a bit below expectations, but the magnificent surroundings made up for it. Highly recommend.

Three days of pack rafting on the Tara river with accommodation and meals included. A group of four people (eldest 58), two of us with no previous experience of kayaking on a river.
A truly amazing experience with breathtaking scenery, (It's like Tolkien's Middle Earth). Our guides Mijo and Ivan were very friendly and have superb knowledge of the river. Starting with an explanation of what to expect and how to handle a pack raft (make sure you adjust the seat and knee straps to suit your body size). Often stopping for a quick briefings prior to rapids on the trip downriver.
Assume at some point that you're getting wet, but it's not a problem. We were briefed on how to handle the water safely and the guide was quickly to hand.
The local food was fantastic and in quantities to suit the hungriest adventurer. Night two the bathroom of the accommodation was a little on the rustic side, but was more than outweighed by the incredible view and the evening meal.
Day three features the most exciting rapids (which you can opt out of) but the previous two days will have given you the experience to go for it. This was a wonderful, enjoyable experience and I honestly could have continued down the river when we reached the final stop.

My wife a I and 2 friends went on the 3 day packraft trip down the Tara river with Mio and Ivan. We upgraded to have the 3rd, final night in a cabin rather than a tent. Accommodation on nights 1 and 3 were excellent and on day 2 a little rough around the edges. Breakfast, snacks and evening meal all excellent and each accommodation catered for my vegetarian wife very well.
The tour itself was over 65km of packrafting over 3 days and this was breathtakingly thrilling and beautiful. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I highly recommended the tour operator and in particular the lovely Mio and Ivan who were in equal measure charming and professional

First time packrafter. In the hands of 2 very experienced and passionate guides, I felt safe and reassured. Logistics was impressive, especially in such a remote location. We had the best of local food. The Tara River is special, so much beauty and power. Felt very privileged to be able to raft this river. An unforgettable experience.
