    I'm fairly indifferent to trains in many ways but my son is transport-obsessed. However, I cam safely say the whole family thoroughly enjoyed it! We are from a city that houses the National Railway Museum but thought Train World presented the displays in a creative and engaging way. Excellent value for money and a thoroughly enjoyable visit. The only negative for us is that the food offering seemed expensive; but we researched in advance and just took our own picnic for after.

    I am surprised at one or two of the reviews here. The Museum is actually quite well sign posted and the information is available in English through a number of means. The entrance is certainly not hard to find, it is in fact within a few yards of the exit from the Railway Station platform and very hard to miss. The lighting is appropriate for the very comprehensive display of trains, trams and pretty much every thing else related to getting around Belgium by rail (of various types). There is enough here to interest both the serious railway anorak, and the family with children of all ages, not to mention the very happy school parties that were visiting en masse when we were looking around. There is also some considerable interest for the more generally historically minded, including some sobering coverage of the war time deportations. I did not try the brasserie, but there are several cafes in the immediate area, which are extremely convenient to use if one arrives a little early, as we did, or wish to go somewhere for a snack or more afterwards, and not use the Brasserie on site..

    Visited the Train Museum but Brasserie Filou Sophie ruined it with awful service as they charged 1 euro for my kid to piss

    Very dark inside. Unable to see any detail. Difficult to find my way around. Difficult to find the entrance. Signage lacking. I was the only visitor in the whole exhibition for the afternoon.

    This museum is located next to Schaerbeek railway station, on the main Brussels railway (direct connections from Midi and Central). It is housed in the historic Schaerbeek station plus several large modern buildings nearby. It is only recently opened (2017?) and everything feels new and modern. The locomotives and carriages are beautifully presented, and you get a great overview of the development of Belgian rail and its importance to the country. The locos are all in beautiful condition, and very atmospherically presented, and the whole museum experience is excellent. 90% of the museum info is translated into English, and the remaining 10% are the less interesting displays that you won't mind missing. Conveniently, you can leave luggage at the entrance (not locked and at your own risk). I'd highly recommend this museum to any Brussels tourists and I rate it higher than the Atomium as a family-friendly science and tech oriented museum. It's a great place!
