    I booked first class seats on the 10.40am train a day before with everything confirmed. Then I get a WhatsApp message from a local agent saying the 10.40am ride was full and I could either do the 6.15am or 3.50pm ride, or cancel and get a refund. We chose the 6.15am ride. It was air conditioned and comfortable for the almost 3 hour ride from Kandy to Colombo but the seats allocated were not together for the two of us. Another hiccup. I don’t like how you book, pay and have it confirmed then be told the trip was full. This could disrupt many plans and be very inconvenient. Other than that, a smooth ride.

    We had booked a first class ticket with Viator back to Colombo from Kandy. The trains in Sri Lanka are great, and it's easy enough to get a driver if you need one rather than renting a car. While the ride was fine, we had booked First class tickets but were told the day before that we could only get 2nd class (not air conditioned) reserved seats. That was fine with us, the seats we spacious and there was plenty of room for our bags and it was a good ride but there was a switch made at the last minute. It was a holiday weekend so the trains were busy but we did get a confirmation after the initial booking that was changed.

    You or your vendor should not book and charge for a train that doesn’t exist. Nothing like getting to the station early (as our Airbnb host suggested perhaps because the schedule made no sense). There was no 3:50 pm Odyssey train on Monday August 4 as it doesn’t run that day. The station agent was helpful enough to rush to get us 1st Class seats in an ac coach on the train about to leave. He chuckled at us paying $96 for 1st class special train when the regular train fair was just over $10. I wrote your booking email and tried to reach TA customer service with no reply or access. Fortunately Amex takes fraud/disputes more seriously. So the experience was terrible or no -existent.
