Warwick Castle Admission Ticket

It was Our first visit to Warwick castle on Sunday just before it closed and It was great! Not much happening but lots of history and a friend had recommended to get the very tall tour guide. We got him and he was great. Was very impressed with all the knowledge and facts that he shared.it made the experience really enjoyably thanks to his funniness. Absolutely loved him.

This was my first visit to the castle in about 10 years. Its still a very nice thing to see and do if you are in Warwick and for this visit we decided to do the Xmas light trail. The light trail itself is well set out and takes around an hour to walk around if you are going at a steady pace. Overall worth doing but price wise it is a little high.

We stayed New years eve into New years day and stayed at the Rose suite. This suite is based in the actual castle itself,and located up a flight of 55 approx spiral stone steps .I'm 60 and wouldn't count myself as fit, however I managed with rests as there are some short rest areas if you would find that challenging . The room is spacious enough with an en suite and a seperate shower room. Tiled floors are heated and various quality toiletries supplied as are towels. The shower is a high set waterfall style so the only thing missing was a shower cap if you don't want wet hair. A hairdryer however is supplied. There were tea and coffee making facilitiess, still and sparkling water and a bottle of bubbly if you've a special occasion to celebrate. The bed was really comfortable and the room designed so you felt you were sleeping in a royal bed chamber. There is a private door onto the rampart and you are free to roam as you please in the evenings around the grounds. The views are spectacular. We had a cream tea included as part of our package, Ice skating, dungeons, the light trail, it was all inclusive. We also had a guided tour of the castle by Mark. This was conducted as the castle was closing so it wasn't long before we had the castle to ourselves with the guide. Mark was so knowledgeable and brought the castle to life with its history, he encouraged us to ask questions and at no point did we feel rushed. As breakfast was also part of the package we had the castle to ourselves the next morning as it was served in one of the state rooms before opening to the general public. The light trail was very good and there was a food outlet half way round with under over seating to rest if needed. There was rubber matting should the weather make the ground muddy. There was plenty to see and the lights were spectacular. The cream tea was ample with fresh sandwiches and cakes. Tea or coffee are provided but you will be required to pay for any extra drinks or food.Its still a reasonable price for extra drink top ups. The castle is magnificent even without a personal tour to go around and there is also the gaol to visit as well as the dungeons, if you are brave and old enough to visit. There is also a wax works style area to see history of the ages. One not to be missed. The time travel exhibition is also good to see ,recounting the castles history if you want to rest a while. The birds of prey show was brilliant to watch. The various birds showing off their agile capabilities and with an extremely friendly and knowledgeable handler. The package was well worth the cost, if you can afford. It didn't disappoint in any way whatsoever, and was a once in a lifetime treat, to not only live but be treated like royalty for the day. Special thanks to Ellie who guided us with phone calls prior to the visit, helping set a itinerary to follow, which is not set in stone ,to meeting us at the car and showing us a brief but concise tour of the general area. She had no trouble answering our queries and gave us our rendezvous point to meet for our castle tour and breakfast . Nothing was an issue for her and she is a credit to the castle .

Really impressive, great family day out …outstanding Christmas decorations and lights. The dungeon was brilliant and the castle and surroundings speaks for itself. We had an excellent day out thank you for everyone’s hard work in making the day out special as I know what work goes into all of this. 6 stars from us ✨

My very first visit to Warwick Castle and I won’t back go again. For me the overriding feeling on being immersed in this truly historic place was that it absolutely should not be owned by an entertainments company. Merlin Entertainments have missed the opportunity to give the right focus for this building, its history and value and instead made it cheep and nasty. It should be in the safe stewardship of the National Trust or English Heritage and not some organisation that have ripped away the heart and soul of such a beautiful place. It didn’t start well with the young lady on the gate when I asked where the entrance was I was told ‘over there….isn’t it big enough for you to see’ ! ! So very charming ……I would have dismissed her. Filled with terrible food offerings, similar to motorway services and tasteless gift shop merchandise they could really learn a lesson or two from the likes of the National Trust. Toilets were not that accessible and we found them strewn with paper all over the floors and not very clean. There is so much rich material with the castle’s history to do it in style and really enhance the story of the castle but sadly it is not to be. There was a fun fair feel to it but I had hoped there would have been a rich historic feel instead. Once inside the great hall it was amazing to see the rooms, artworks and the information boards were informative. We listened to a couple of the guides who knew their stuff well enough. Unfortunately my expectations were missed by a country mile from what I had built up in my mind. Having read about the history before I visited and been keen for a fully authentic experience I left feeling cheated that such an historic place has been cheapened by the lack of respect and understanding of its value by the owners Merlin Entertainments. Turned into a bit of a laughing stock, so very sad.
