Energiebunker Wilhelmsburg

The energy bunker in Wilhelmsburg is an impressive example of sustainable urban development. Originally built as a World War II bunker, it has become a symbol of change and the energy transition. Today it houses an innovative power generation facility that uses renewable energy. The energy bunker produces electricity and heat from solar energy and biomass. There are solar panels on its roof that generate clean electricity. In addition, biomass is burned in a combined heat and power plant to generate additional energy. This sustainable energy supply covers part of the needs of the surrounding buildings and contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions. The bunker itself has been transformed into an architectural masterpiece.

Alter Elbtunnel

The old Elbe tunnel in Hamburg is a historic landmark that takes visitors back in time. It was opened in 1911 and was a technical masterpiece at the time. Today the tunnel is not only a transport connection between the banks of the Elbe, but also a popular tourist attraction. With its cast-iron stairs and charming flair, the tunnel exudes nostalgic charm. A walk under the Elbe offers a unique view of the passing ships and the hustle and bustle on the water.

HafenCity

The Hafencity in Hamburg is a modern and dynamic district that combines architectural beauty and urban diversity. Hafencity attracts locals and visitors alike with its futuristic skyline, sleek residential buildings and stunning public spaces. Here you will not only find ultra-modern office buildings, but also cultural institutions, gastronomic highlights and a lively harbor promenade.

Speicherstadt

The Speicherstadt in Hamburg is an architectural jewel and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its distinctive red brick facades and winding waterways, it is one of the largest historic warehouse complexes in the world. The Speicherstadt stretches along the Elbe and is famous for its warehouses, which were once used to store spices, coffee and tea. Today, the Speicherstadt is home to a fascinating mix of museums, galleries, restaurants and shops. Here you can explore the history of the Hanseatic city, admire contemporary art, enjoy first-class cuisine or buy souvenirs. The Speicherstadt is also home to Miniatur Wunderland, one of Germany's most popular tourist attractions, where you can admire a detailed miniature world.

I booked this tour as a team outing for our department in December. We had to pay €550 in advance in September. On the day of the event itself, the tour was cancelled in the morning by the organiser, allegedly due to a lack of staff due to illness. Since then, we have been chasing our money in vain. All of our inquiries in this regard have simply been ignored and no one can be reached by phone. As the comments of other users show, this business practice is not that unusual at Waterkant-Tours. I strongly advise caution: the start-up company that appears to be so hip, modern and friendly on its website is not a reputable provider - just keep your hands off it!

The Waterkant Tour was canceled at short notice by the organizer on the day of the event (December 1st, 2023) due to illness. This was supposed to be a company Christmas party. We could decide whether we wanted to postpone the tour or have the costs reimbursed. We decided to have the costs reimbursed. We are still waiting for the reimbursement. Direct communication is not possible, and there has been no response to our inquiries about where the money is. We have already threatened to get a lawyer. Even then, nothing has happened. It's a shame, because we were really looking forward to a Christmas tour through the Hafencity. As in some other reviews, there are apparently always problems with reimbursement when a tour is canceled.

Good contact in advance, requests for changes (additional person) no problem, nice guide, unusual tour including bunker, definitely worthwhile

Super great tour through the south of Hamburg, including areas that aren't included in other sightseeing tours! Our guide was really great, explained a lot and also showed us a few things that weren't actually included in the tour. We would do it again and again!

I really enjoyed the tour. Wolle explained the individual sights in a very pleasant way. The weather was good and I got to know some new parts of Hamburg. The retro bus is comfortable, the atmosphere with 3 other people was great. The meeting point at U4 station was interesting because Wolle had some explanations about the station ready. The Bulli tour then started at Lohsepark through streets and parts of Hamburg that you don't normally drive through very often. Here are some impressions from a selection of many pictures

Dear Waterkant team, we will remember this trip very fondly. Although it was not our first time in Hamburg, we were able to gather many new and beautiful impressions. Exciting information about the Speicherstadt, the city planning/Hafencity, the largest Hamburg district Wilhelmsburg, and also the panoramic view from the energy bunker, very impressive! Jette and her driver/our guide definitely did their best! Lots of information on a relaxed road trip. Drink, smoke and pee breaks were optimally integrated into the tour program. After passing through the old Elbe tunnel, there was a detour to Övelgönne (museum harbor), and we also touched on the Haifischbar and the Schellfischposten (Inas Nacht). We are happy to recommend this cult city tour of a special kind! A warm hello, from the 4 North Frisians Vera, Frank, Carmen and Bernd

We are from Hamburg and still learned a lot of new things about our city. During the journey, the driver should speak into a microphone.

Selbst als Hamburger*innen haben wir viele neue Infos erhalten und tolle Hamburgblicke von den Elbinseln aus gesehen. Empfehlenswerte Tour mit Bulli "Jeff-Dieter".
