This is the tour to go on. Franklin's tour was as entertaining and funny as it was inspiring and eye opening. This tour includes the facts that other tours omit. Learned about Philip Simmons, saw his home and workshop, and met his family member who carries on his legacy in blacksmithing. Very interactive and authentic.

My husband and I had the honor of joining Franklin Williams for his Black History Tour of Charleston. He was welcoming, open, and honest and showed us important historical sights that other tours overlook or omit altogether. By the end, we had images that will last a lifetime and a list of books to read to learn more. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in knowing more about this unforgivable and devastating part of our nation's history.

Outstanding walking tour for anyone who wishes to learn the non-whitewashed story of the "other Charleston." Frank's learned and entertaining presentation is a must-do for Charleston visitors.

Knowledgeable, very personable, and most importantly the love for his people is real! I am so happy I found this story when I googled african american tours! I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to hear the history from a knowledgeable no nonsense tour guide which is Franklin!

Interesting and informative (and important) tour, the Charleston they’ll brush over in the hundreds of other “history” tours of the town

A wonderful, informative tour of Wraggborough. Franklin is both knowledgeable and entertaining, conveying the stories that have gotten lost over time and giving insight into the slave industry on which Charleston was built. This is clearly a labor of love of Franklin’s, and he serves Charleston, history, the people who came before him, and his customers well. I am not usually a fan of tours, but this one was absolutely worth the time and money. I cannot recommend it enough.

The only tour we took in Charleston, but one of the most engaging I've had in all my travels. Franklin is super knowledgeable and an amazing storyteller - he makes history come alive and we had many conversations afterward reflecting on what he shared with us. Our background knowledge was really limited, but Franklin took his time to fill in the blanks. It would be a mistake I think, to come to this city and not learn the real history as Franklin shares it. Highly recommended.

This was the best tour we took during our stay in Charleston. Franklin was such a down to earth, knowledgeable tour guide. If you want a "nothing but the truth" tour that lays our the true contribution of Africans experiencing America, then this is the tour for you. Franklin covers the building of the city as well as the African American contribution on plantations. He's friendly and a lot of fun. The walk isn't bad either. Thanks Franklin - Mrs. Varner
