Booked Stuart based on a recommendation from a good friend; we couldn't have been more pleased. Stuart took the time to discuss and listen to our expectations, and put together a tour agenda that in addition to the expected beachs / drop zones took us to places we never would have found on our own. The pace was ideal; we moved around quite a bit without ever feeling rushed. Overall a very positive experience.

Normandy includes a lot of significant areas and a very complex story. Stewart spent the day with us putting all the people, places, and events together in a way that allowed us to obtain an in-depth understanding of what happened and why. His guidance included well researched facts, maps, and photos, as well as incredibly moving stories he learned by tracking down and interviewing survivors who were there. There may be lots of good D-Day guides, but based on our experience, Stewart is among the best.

Simply put, our 3 day D-Day tour with Stuart Robertson was the best tour we have ever had. Stuart possesses an encyclopedic understanding of the complex history of the region and delivers it in an easy-to-understand and organized manner. And his presentation itself never ran dry as history sometimes can; he intersperses facts with human interest details drawn from the myriads of D-Day participants he has met over 2 decades, many participants with whom he as stayed in contact with for years. And as this year is the 80th anniversary of D-Day, very few of those veterans survive. Stuart is a fabulous repository of memories so many of the veterans shared directly with him, memories that without Stuart listening may well have been lost when they died. In short, detailed yet easy to absorb history accented by real life human interest stories delivered in a beautiful setting made a superb 3 days.

I have to admit I generally am not a big history buff, but this tour with Stuart was the highlight of our trip to Normandy. He was absolutely riveting in his knowledge, his presentation and his sensitivity to the human beings involved. I couldn't recommend him more highly. The day with Stuart will be a memory my husband and I will always be grateful for.

The Normandy D-Day tour had long been a bucket list item for me. Stuart Robertson, a military history scholar, was our amazing tour guide! He told many stories of battles and events that I wasn’t familiar with and he told them with such enthusiasm and reverence. His descriptions were so vivid I was almost seeing the streets in these small French towns in the black and white photos that captured the war so well. If you have the opportunity, you will be well served by booking your personal guided tour with Stuart!

My 20 year old son has been a history buff since he was 8 years old. We hired Stuart for the tour and he did a wonderful job. He is an excellent communicator and a warm host.

It was a most incredible day and learning experience with Stuart Robertson! He met us at our hotel in Bayeux, and from the moment we left our experience began. Our 16 year old grandson had requested we go to Normandy. Both of our grandchildren (16 & 13) were involved from the first. Stuart not only gave us the history, but he told us accounts/stories from veterans that he had met. When we were at the various beaches and the towns, he made what happened come alive in our minds. We ended our tour at the American cemetery and a most moving ceremony of the lowering of the flags. Seeing these most significant sights with someone that was so knowledgeable and articulate made our trip so very special! Thank you Stuart!

Stuart was truly an excellent tour guide. So very knowledgeable and provided a great insight into all aspects of what took place on D Day as well as the battles that took place after June 6th. Prior to the trip I read his book Command and Valour which was exceptional. I had my family with us which included a 16 year old grandson and a 13 year old granddaughter and they enjoyed the stories Stuart told. He also noted several movies and was able to enlighten us about the differences between what actually happened and what Hollywood portrayed. His timing was excellent as it was a full day tour and he got us to the Omaha cemetery in time for the evening tap’s ceremony which was very moving. I have been on many tours over the years and Stuart is one of the best in the business.

Stuart Robinson was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and full of the most interesting information. The day we spent with him was by far the highlight of our trip to Normandy. Without a guide to offer context and personal stories it would be impossible to grasp the enormity of the undertaking. Sometimes, when we've had a guide, they are just repeating the info from all the other times they've done the tour. In Stuart's case, we left feeling like we were the first people he'd ever shown the beaches to. It felt fresh and wonderful!

This was an experience I will genuinely never forget. Stuart is not only vastly knowledgeable, his admiration for the men who served our country is commendable. He far exceeded our expectations with his countless stories of brave men who passed on and those who survived and became his friends throughout the years. He carries their memories and stories of heroism with pride and we were so grateful for that. Along with his stories, the locations that he took us gave a new perspective of the conditions of the day. While we could never truly understand what D-day was like, he took us exactly where our guys were and showed us what they were up against. Some locations were off the path of other tours and Stuart gave us a more personalized lay of the land. We are grateful for Stuart and the thoughtfulness of his guidance during our 2 days with him. We will never forget this experience thanks to him. Thank you Stuart!
