Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From the Caen train station, walk to the bus stop located just outside. Take Bus Line 70 towards 'Carentan'. The journey will take approximately 50 minutes. You will need to get off at the 'Omaha Beach' stop. Once you arrive, you can walk directly to the beach, which is only a short distance away.

  • Bicycle Rental

    Rent a bicycle from any bike rental shop in Caen. Start your ride by heading west on Rue de Bernières towards Rue de la Gare. Continue on to Avenue de la Libération and follow the cycle paths that lead out of the city. The ride to Omaha Beach is about 12 km and will take roughly 45 minutes. Follow the signs for Omaha Beach once you are on the main road (D514).

  • Walking Tour

    If you're up for a long walk, you can start from the center of Caen. Head west on Rue Saint-Jean and continue on Avenue de la Libération. After about 8 km, you will reach the outskirts of the town of Vierville-sur-Mer. From there, follow the signs towards Omaha Beach, which is about 4 km further. This walk will take you around 3 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
