One of the most famous castles in Scotland , Urquhart Castle sits on a promontory jutting out in to Loch Ness. The Castle has changed hands many times during its long and turbulent history. Explore the ruins and take in the magnificient views of Loch Ness.

Beauly Priory

Beauly Priory is a 13th century Monastery built for an order of Valliscaulian Monks from Dijon in France. This was the ancient burial place for the chiefs of Clans Fraser and Mackenzie. The priory was destroyed by Oliver Cromwells forces in the 1600s.

Clava Cairns

Clava Cairns is an ancient burial ground dating from 2000BC. Diana Gabaldon took inspiration from this place for her Outlander series of books and television.

Culloden Battlefield

The Battle of Culloden took place on the 16th April 1746 and was the last battle fought on British soil. We walk to the main areas of the Battlefield and see the clan headstones and the memorial cairn as well as Old Leanach Cottage.

Inverness Cathedral is the most northerly Anglican cathedral in the UK. The cathedral was completed in 1866.

Inverness Castle

The current Inverness castle was completed in the 1830s and it is currently being turned in to a tourist attraction. There has been a castle on this site since the 11th century.

Old High St Stephen's Church

The Old High Church is where the Jacobite prisoners were held before they were executed in the graveyard. You can see musket ball marks on the church wall where the executions took place.
