Palacio Nacional de Mafra

The Palace of Mafra, also known as the Palace-Convent of Mafra and the Royal Building of Mafra, is a monumental Baroque and Neoclassical palace-monastery. The construction of the biggest portuguese royal palace began in 1717 under King John V and was completely concluded in 1755. Classified as a National Monument in 1910, it earned the World Heritage of UNESCO award in 2019. From the 220 long limestone façade, to the biggest, the impressive library and the biggest bell carillon in the world, visiting the palace is an immersive experience to the past history of portuguese monarchy and art. Aldeia Museu Jose Franco

José Franco built a miniature replica of an outer Lisbon village at Sobreiro, on the road between Mafra and Ericeira. The miniature rural scenes and animated figures recreate the practices and customs of the region. Visitors can also travel back in time to an old-style schoolroom, a barber-dentist’s shop and Auntie Helena’s grocery store. Praia de Ribeira d'Ilhas

The beach of Ribeira d'Ilhas, which routinely hosts a round of the ASP World Tour Surf Championship and is widely regarded as one of the best beaches in Europe for this sport. Located 2 kilometres to the north of Ericeira was chosen in 2011 to be one of the World Surfing Reserves. This is a mandatory stop for pictures. Ericeira

Ericeira was a popular summer retreat for many of Lisbon's families in the 1940s and 1950s. Today, it is a popular destination for locals and visitors, as well as surfers from around the world. Traditional fishing village, still holds the white and blue coloured houses as part of its heritage. Here you can find the freshest fish and seafood dishes. Historic place, related to the end of portuguese monarchy in 1910, it was from Ericeira Harbour that the last portuguese king, Manuel II left for exile. More than 4 kilometers of its coast was classified as World Surf Reserve in 2011.
