Today was a vibrant immersion into the artistic soul of Marrakech. Leaving the tranquility of Riad Mille et une Nuits, I set out to explore the legacy of Yves Saint Laurent and the stunning beauty of the Majorelle Garden. It was a day filled with color, history, and inspiration, a reminder of the profound impact art and nature can have on one's spirit.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Bazaar Cafe. I enjoyed some traditional Moroccan pastries and strong coffee on their rooftop terrace, soaking in the early morning sun. The cafe’s cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made it a perfect spot to fuel up for the day’s adventures. With a full stomach and a spring in my step, I made my way towards the Jardin Majorelle.

Arriving at the Jardin Majorelle, I was immediately struck by the intense, almost otherworldly blue of the buildings. The Majorelle Blue, as it’s known, is a vibrant hue that seems to pulse with life. Jacques Majorelle, the garden's creator, clearly had an eye for color and a passion for the exotic. As I wandered through the winding paths, I was surrounded by a stunning array of plants from all corners of the globe. Cacti, bamboo, bougainvillea – each plant seemed to thrive in this little slice of paradise. It was easy to see why Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé fell in love with this place and worked so hard to restore it.

Inside, I was treated to a retrospective of his most famous designs, from the Mondrian dress to the Le Smoking tuxedo. It was fascinating to see how Saint Laurent drew inspiration from Moroccan culture, incorporating bold colors and patterns into his creations.

After immersing myself in the world of Yves Saint Laurent, I decided to treat myself to lunch at Le Foundouk. Nestled in the heart of the Medina, this restaurant is a hidden gem. The ambiance was magical, with lanterns casting a warm glow over the courtyard. I savored a delicious tagine, filled with tender lamb and fragrant spices. The flavors were a perfect blend of sweet and savory, a true taste of Morocco. The service was impeccable, and the staff made me feel like a welcomed guest. I took my time, enjoying each bite and savoring the peaceful atmosphere.

As the sun began to set, I made my way to SKY-BAR for a final treat. Perched high above the city, this rooftop bar offered breathtaking views of Marrakech. I ordered a refreshing cocktail and watched as the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors. The call to prayer echoed through the city, a hauntingly beautiful sound that seemed to encapsulate the spirit of Marrakech. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.

Before heading back to the riad, I took a moment to reflect on everything I had experienced. The Jardin Majorelle, the Musée Berbère, the Yves Saint Laurent Museum – each place had offered a unique perspective on Moroccan culture and art. I felt grateful for the opportunity to immerse myself in this vibrant city and to connect with its rich history and heritage.

I am already looking forward to tomorrow, when I plan to visit El Badi Palace and the Mellah, and perhaps find some treasures at Souk Jdid. But for now, I will rest and dream of blue gardens and haute couture.

The Passionately Piano festival was also held at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, but unfortunately I couldn't attend.

Back at Riad Mille et une Nuits, I journaled about my day, capturing the essence of the colors, the culture, and the creative energy that permeated everything I experienced. I realized that Marrakech was not just a destination; it was an inspiration, a place that awakened the senses and stirred the soul. It reminded me of the importance of embracing new experiences and seeking out beauty in unexpected places.

As I prepared for bed, I thought about Klaus and Ama back in Potsdam. I missed them dearly, but I knew that this solo journey was allowing me to reconnect with myself and to gain a new perspective on the world. I couldn't wait to share my experiences with them and to plan our next family adventure together.

Tomorrow, I am planning to visit El Badi Palace, the Mellah, and Cyber Park Arsat Moulay Abdesalam. I am also hoping to do some shopping at Souk Jdid. It promises to be another day filled with exploration and discovery.
