Family Adventure Through the Majestic Todra Gorge

After a long journey from Ottawa, my family and I have finally arrived in the breathtaking Todra Gorge, Morocco. The anticipation has been building for months, and I'm excited to share our first impressions of this majestic place. Our journey began with a flight from Ottawa to Marrakech, followed by a scenic drive to Todra Gorge [cite: null]. Aisha particularly enjoyed the mint tea, while Tunde couldn't get enough of the local pastries. It was the perfect start to our Moroccan adventure.

After breakfast, we ventured into the heart of the gorge itself, eager to witness the towering cliffs up close. We spent the morning exploring the area around Todgha Gorge and Gorges Toudgha, marveling at the sheer rock formations that rose hundreds of meters above us. The gorge is easily walkable, and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll, taking in the breathtaking views. The December weather was pleasantly mild, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures. Funke, with her keen eye for photography, was in her element, capturing the play of light and shadow on the canyon walls. I tried my hand at a few shots as well, hoping to capture even a fraction of the gorge's majesty.

For lunch, we chose Restaurant La Petite Gorge, enticed by its reputation for authentic Moroccan cuisine and stunning views. The restaurant did not disappoint. We sat on the terrace, surrounded by towering rock formations and lush greenery, and savored a delicious tagine prepared with locally sourced ingredients. The flavors were rich and complex, a testament to the culinary traditions of the region. Aisha and I shared stories and reminisced about our time in Nigeria as the kids enjoyed the views.

Bargaining is expected, so I put my haggling skills to the test, much to the amusement of my family.

As the day drew to a close, we settled in for dinner at RESTAURANT LA-KASBAH, known for its traditional Moroccan cuisine and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant was warm and inviting, with friendly staff and a menu filled with local specialties. We enjoyed a delicious meal of couscous and grilled meats, savoring the flavors of Morocco one last time for the day. The portions were generous, and we left feeling satisfied and content.

Before heading back to our guesthouse, we took a moment to reflect on our first day in Todra Gorge.
