Today was a day of vibrant colors, intricate designs, and rich cultural experiences that painted a vivid picture of Marrakech's artistic soul. From the serene beauty of Jardin Majorelle to the captivating exhibits at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, every moment was a feast for the senses. I felt truly immersed in the creative spirit of this enchanting city, a place where art and history intertwine seamlessly.

The day began with a delightful breakfast at Al Fassia Guéliz. The restaurant was bustling with activity, and the aroma of freshly baked bread and mint tea filled the air. Al Fassia Guéliz is staffed entirely by women, which I found empowering. The service was warm and efficient. I decided to try the traditional Moroccan pancakes with honey and almonds, a sweet and savory combination that was the perfect start to a day of exploration. Fueled and ready, my friends and I set off to explore the Jardin Majorelle.

The Jardin Majorelle was our first stop, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. The striking Majorelle blue that adorned the walls, fountains, and architectural details was a feast for the eyes. Jacques Majorelle, the garden's creator, truly had an eye for color and design. The garden was a sanctuary of exotic plants from around the world, creating a tranquil oasis amidst the bustling city. After a morning filled with art and culture, it was time for lunch. We headed to Le Foundouk, a restaurant located in the heart of the Medina. Finding it was part of the adventure, as it was tucked away in a maze of narrow streets. But once we arrived, we were immediately enchanted by its charming ambiance. The restaurant was set in a traditional Moroccan house, with a beautiful courtyard and a rooftop terrace offering stunning views of the city. I decided to try the avocado millefeuille with crab meat, followed by the grilled beef. The food was delicious, and the setting was magical.

As I savored my meal, I couldn't help but reflect on the rich history of this place and the many travelers who had passed through its doors over the centuries.

In the late afternoon, we indulged in a bit of shopping at 33 RUE MAJORELLE, a concept store located just across from the Jardin Majorelle. This boutique was a treasure trove of unique Moroccan-designed gifts, fashion, and housewares. From cute tasseled djellabas to quirky ceramic cactus platters, there was something for everyone. The store showcased the work of over 90 independent artisans, offering a modern twist on traditional Moroccan crafts. I picked up a few souvenirs for my daughter Elif, knowing she would appreciate the vibrant colors and intricate designs.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to SKY-BAR, a rooftop bar offering panoramic views of Marrakech. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, with music playing and people mingling. I ordered a refreshing cocktail and watched as the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors. It was the perfect way to end a day filled with art, culture, and culinary delights. The SKY-BAR, located on the 6th floor of the BAB Hotel, had a modern and trendy setting. Although the view wasn't the best in Marrakech, it was still a great spot to enjoy the al-fresco lounge vibes high above the buzzing streets. The rooftop menu included crafted cocktails, a fine selection of Moroccan and French wines, and tasty tapas.

For dinner, we had reservations at Dar Moha, a renowned Moroccan restaurant known for its exquisite cuisine and stunning setting. The restaurant was located in a beautiful riad, with tables set around a central pool. The ambiance was romantic and enchanting, with live music adding to the atmosphere. I opted for the tasting menu, which featured a selection of Moroccan delicacies, each more delicious than the last. From the flavorful tagines to the delicate pastries, every dish was a work of art. The service was impeccable, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

Dar Moha is known for its modern take on classic Moroccan dishes. The interior design features a tropical forest theme, complete with a beautiful pool. The price range is on the higher end, but the quality of the food is worth the cost. Some standout dishes include the tajine of souris d'agneau (lamb shank), the sea bass, and the pastilla. The restaurant is located just at the edge of the Medina, making it a convenient and picturesque place to dine. As I savored each bite, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience the culinary wonders of Marrakech.

As I reflect on today's adventures, I am struck by the vibrant energy and artistic spirit of Marrakech. This city is a melting pot of cultures, a place where ancient traditions meet modern sensibilities. It's a place that awakens the senses and nourishes the soul. I am so grateful for the opportunity to explore its hidden corners and discover its many treasures. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings, as we plan to visit El Badi Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Moulay al-Yazid Mosque. I am particularly excited about the prospect of visiting Souk Jdid, known for its leather goods and traditional crafts. I am also planning to visit Churchill Bar tomorrow, hoping to capture a different side of the city's nightlife.

I am also reminded that there are several events taking place in Marrakech. One such event is the 17th International Conference of the Society of Neuroscientists of Africa, which is being held at the Conferences Center of Cadi Ayyad University. Additionally, there is the Swiss Pavilion at Gitex Africa, showcasing Swiss excellence and innovation in the digital sector. It is wonderful to see Marrakech hosting such important and diverse events, further cementing its status as a global hub for culture, innovation, and collaboration.
