As our week-long adventure in Geirangerfjord draws to a close, I find myself filled with a bittersweet mixture of contentment and longing. This trip, taken with my wife Jana and our son Maximilian, has been nothing short of extraordinary. The raw beauty of Norway has seeped into our souls, leaving an indelible mark on our memories. Today, our final day, was dedicated to soaking in the last moments of this majestic landscape before we begin our journey back home to Brno.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Berserk Bar & Grill. The name itself, reminiscent of ancient Norse warriors, intrigued Maximilian, and the rustic ambiance of the place added to its charm. It was a cozy spot, and the food was just what we needed to fuel our final day of exploration. I opted for a traditional Norwegian breakfast, while Jana enjoyed a lighter fare, and Maximilian, of course, went for the pancakes. What a great way to start the day!

With our bellies full and spirits high, we set off for Blair's View Point. The drive itself was a scenic marvel, winding through snow-dusted roads that offered glimpses of the fjord below. Despite it being December, the roads were clear, and the journey was smooth. I was grateful I hadn't forgotten to put on my winter tires before leaving Brno.

Arriving at Blair's View Point, we were greeted by a sight that truly took our breath away. The panoramic vista of Geirangerfjord, with its towering cliffs and serene waters, was simply mesmerizing. The crisp winter air added to the drama, making the landscape appear even more stark and beautiful. Maximilian was particularly fascinated by the way the sunlight played on the water, creating an ever-changing canvas of light and shadow. Jana and I took countless photos, trying to capture the essence of this stunning vista, knowing full well that no picture could ever truly do it justice.

We spent a good hour at Blair's View Point, simply absorbing the scenery and etching it into our memories. Maximilian, ever the curious one, even ventured a little way down one of the hiking trails, eager to explore the surrounding hills. Jana and I, content with the view from above, watched him with amusement, knowing that his adventurous spirit would always lead him to seek out new experiences.

As lunchtime approached, we drove back down to Geiranger village and headed to Geiranger Brygge. This restaurant, recommended by a local we met earlier in the week, promised a delightful culinary experience with a view. And it certainly delivered. We sat by the window, overlooking the fjord, as we savored our meal. I opted for the fresh seafood, Jana chose a hearty soup, and Maximilian, predictably, ordered pizza. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was warm and inviting.

After lunch, we took a leisurely stroll through the village, soaking in the last moments of Geiranger's charm. The Christmas decorations added a festive touch, and the twinkling lights created a magical atmosphere. We stopped by a local shop to pick up a few souvenirs, mementos of our incredible journey. Maximilian insisted on buying a small troll figurine, a reminder of the mythical creatures that are said to inhabit the Norwegian wilderness.

As evening approached, we decided to treat ourselves to a final Norwegian dinner at Brasserie Posten. Located in the old post office, right on the pier, the restaurant exuded a cozy and historical charm. The menu featured local and seasonal ingredients, and the dishes were a delightful blend of traditional Norwegian cuisine with modern touches. I savored every bite of my reindeer stew, while Jana relished her salmon dish, and Maximilian devoured his plate of meatballs. The service was impeccable, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

To cap off our final evening, Jana and I decided to sneak away for a quick drink at MILK Bar & Lounge. This modern bar, set on an old ferry quay, offered a unique experience with glass panels in the floor, allowing us to see the seabed below. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails, reminiscing about our adventures in Geirangerfjord. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate, and the drinks were expertly crafted. It was the perfect way to bid farewell to this magical place.

As I sit here now, writing this blog post from our cozy cabin, I can't help but feel a sense of gratitude for this incredible experience. Geirangerfjord has exceeded all my expectations, and I'm so glad that I was able to share it with my family. From the breathtaking views to the delicious food and the warm hospitality, every moment has been a treasure. I know that we will carry these memories with us for a lifetime.

Tomorrow, we begin our journey back to Brno. While I'm looking forward to returning home, I know that a part of me will always remain in Geirangerfjord. This trip has reignited my passion for travel and reminded me of the importance of spending quality time with loved ones. As we leave this natural wonder, I am already contemplating our next family adventure. Perhaps we'll explore the Scottish Highlands or venture to the Swiss Alps. The possibilities are endless.

For now, though, I'll cherish the memories of Geirangerfjord and dream of the day when we can return to this magical place. Thank you, Norway, for an unforgettable experience.
