As our Jamaican adventure draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible experiences we've had in Port Antonio. Today was a blend of relaxation, exploration, and a taste of local nightlife, creating a perfect ending to our 7-day journey. Olivia and I savored every moment, knowing that we'll carry these memories with us long after we've returned to Toronto.



The day began with a delightful breakfast at Ronjae Home Cooking. It was a cozy spot, and the aromas wafting from the kitchen were simply irresistible. After breakfast, we set out to explore San San Beach. The drive itself was a treat, with the vibrant scenery of Port Antonio unfolding before us. San San Beach is known for its tranquil waters and lush surroundings. As we arrived, the serene beauty of the place immediately captivated us. The small beach boasted beautiful blue water. We spent hours lounging on the soft sand, soaking up the sun, and swimming in the crystal-clear sea. The gentle breeze and the sound of the waves created a soothing atmosphere, a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Olivia, ever the enthusiast, took countless photos, determined to capture the essence of this idyllic spot. It was a moment of pure bliss, a reminder of the simple joys of life.

For lunch, we ventured to Nix Nax Centre, a local eatery known for its Jamaican favorites. We decided to try their fried chicken and curry goat, wanting to sample more of the island's diverse cuisine. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous, providing us with the energy we needed for our afternoon adventure. What struck me most was the lively atmosphere of the place, filled with locals chatting and laughing, creating a vibrant and authentic Jamaican experience. It felt like we were truly immersed in the heart of the community.

In the afternoon, we joined a tour with Portie Tours, eager to discover more of Port Antonio's hidden gems. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the area, sharing fascinating stories and insights along the way. We explored lush landscapes, learned about the local culture, and marveled at the natural beauty that surrounds Port Antonio. It was an enriching experience that deepened our appreciation for this coastal gem. The tour was a perfect blend of adventure and education, leaving us with a greater understanding of Jamaica's rich history and vibrant culture.

As the sun began to set, we headed to Dickie's Best Kept Secret for dinner. This restaurant is something of an institution in Port Antonio. Perched on a cliffside, this charming and funky ramshackle hut offers an extremely unusual dining option. The concierge team at The Trident hooked us up. There's no menu at Dickie's – you eat what they serve you. We started with a savory crepe-like omelette filled with vegetables that was both tasty and light. Vegetable soup came next. It was uninspired, but there are worse views to have with your soup course. The main course was a delicious grilled spiny lobster, served with stuffed peppers. It was light and flavorful and tasted excellent washed down with a Red Stripe lager. The eclectic decor and the stunning views of the Caribbean Sea created a magical ambiance, a perfect setting for our final dinner in Port Antonio. The food was exquisite, a testament to Dickie's culinary expertise. It was a truly memorable experience, a fitting end to our gastronomic journey through Jamaica.

To cap off our final night, Olivia and I decided to experience Port Antonio's nightlife at Cristal Nightclub. Cristal Nightclub is one of the most popular entertainment stops in Port Antonio. Roaring sound systems, guest DJ's and people dancing partying to Reggae, Dance Hall, R & B, is the order of the night. The club was alive with energy, the music pulsating through the air, and the dance floor packed with locals and tourists alike. We danced the night away, celebrating our incredible journey and the memories we've made. It was a vibrant and unforgettable experience, a perfect way to say farewell to Port Antonio.
