Today was a whirlwind of adventure, a perfect blend of maritime exploration and treetop thrills here in the Serra de Tramuntana. The kids were buzzing with excitement as we set off, and honestly, Klaus and I were just as eager. It’s days like these that remind me why we decided to embark on this family journey in the first place – to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Our day began with an early breakfast at Restaurant Es Port de Valldemossa. The drive down the winding road to the port was a bit nerve-wracking, but the view of the harbor and sea was more than worth it. We sat outside, overlooking the bay, and enjoyed a hearty meal. Aisha was particularly thrilled with her *ensaimada*, while Malik devoured the *pan con tomate*. Klaus and I shared a strong coffee, gearing up for the day’s adventures. The restaurant's location is truly special, nestled between the mountains and the sea.

After breakfast, we drove to catch our boat tour to La Dragonera, or Dragon Island as the kids like to call it. The boat was filled with excited tourists, all eager to see the island. The ride itself was stunning, offering panoramic views of the coastline. The turquoise waters sparkled under the summer sun, and the cliffs of the Serra de Tramuntana provided a dramatic backdrop. As we approached Dragonera, the island rose majestically from the sea, its rocky silhouette resembling a sleeping dragon.

Once on the island, we had about an hour to explore. We followed one of the trails, enjoying the rugged landscape and the unique flora and fauna. Malik was fascinated by the lizards scurrying among the rocks, while Aisha kept a keen eye out for the island's famous dragons—much to her disappointment, we only saw lizards! The island felt wild and untouched, a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I couldn't help but think of my homeland, Syria, and the ancient tales whispered in its landscapes. Though different, both places held a certain magic.

Back on the boat, we enjoyed a simple but satisfying lunch. The crew was friendly and funny, keeping everyone entertained with stories and jokes. The highlight of the return journey was a swimming stop in a secluded cove. The water was crystal clear and incredibly refreshing. Even Klaus, who usually avoids swimming in the sea, couldn't resist taking a dip. The kids splashed and played, their laughter echoing across the water. It was a perfect moment of family bliss. As someone who values new beginnings, seeing my family so happy in this new environment fills my heart.

To travel is to take a journey into yourself.

Our next stop was Jungle Parc, near Santa Ponsa, for an afternoon of treetop adventures. After the tranquility of Dragon Island, this was a complete change of pace. The park is set in a beautiful pine forest, offering a variety of courses for different skill levels. Aisha, ever the daredevil, was eager to tackle the most challenging route, while Malik was a bit more hesitant. Klaus and I decided to join them, figuring it would be a fun way to bond and challenge ourselves.

We started with the Explorador course, which was perfect for warming up. The course involved navigating a series of obstacles, including rope bridges, zip lines, and swinging logs, all suspended high in the trees. The kids were naturals, zipping through the course with confidence and skill. I, on the other hand, found it a bit more challenging. There were moments when I felt a surge of fear, but the encouragement from my family kept me going. Klaus, with his steady demeanor, was a great support, offering tips and a helping hand when needed.

Aisha decided to try some of the advanced detours, which proved to be quite the test. There was one particular obstacle, a Tarzan swing, that required a leap of faith. I watched, heart in my mouth, as she swung across the gap, landing perfectly on the other side. Her triumphant grin was worth all the anxiety. Malik, inspired by his sister’s bravery, also pushed himself, completing several obstacles he initially thought were too difficult. It was wonderful to see them both grow in confidence and overcome their fears.

By the time we finished the course, we were all exhausted but exhilarated. We celebrated our achievements with ice cream at the park’s café, sharing stories and laughing about our near misses. It was the kind of shared experience that brings a family closer, creating bonds that are stronger than any obstacle course.

Before heading back to our accommodation, we made a quick stop at Mirador de Es Colomer. Although we were tired, we couldn't miss the opportunity to witness the sunset from this iconic viewpoint. The drive up was steep, but the panoramic views were breathtaking. The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the landscape. The sea sparkled, and the cliffs glowed with warmth. It was a scene of such beauty that it took my breath away.

We found a spot along the paved path and watched in silence as the sun slowly disappeared. The sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors, from fiery oranges and reds to soft pinks and purples. It was a moment of pure magic, a perfect end to a day filled with adventure and discovery. As I looked at my family, silhouetted against the stunning backdrop, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. We had come so far, both physically and emotionally, and were creating a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. The viewpoint is also known as Mirador de Sa Creueta, and it is easy to see why it is one of the most photographed corners of the world.

For dinner, we decided on El Restaurante Rancho la Romana in Peguera. We were all craving something hearty and comforting, and this place seemed to fit the bill. The restaurant is known for its Spanish cuisine and friendly atmosphere. We ordered a seafood paella, which was delicious and satisfying. The kids enjoyed the chicken and croquettes, while Klaus and I savored the local wine. The service was excellent, and the staff made us feel welcome and at home. It was the perfect way to end a long and eventful day.

Before heading back, we stopped by Mio Bar for a quick nightcap. It was a cozy little place with a warm ambiance and friendly staff. Klaus and I enjoyed a glass of local wine while the kids sipped on juice. It was a relaxing end to a busy day. The atmosphere was lively, and we enjoyed chatting with some of the locals.

As I sit here now, writing this entry, I can’t help but feel a sense of contentment. Today was a reminder that life is an adventure, and that the best moments are often the ones shared with loved ones. Tomorrow, we’re planning to visit Mirador des des Sinies and Castell d'Alaró [sic], and maybe do some shopping at FAN Mallorca Shopping. I can’t wait to see what new adventures await us. Good night from Serra de Tramuntana!

I am so grateful to be sharing this journey with my family and to have the opportunity to explore the beauty of Spain together. I hope our experiences inspire you to seek out your own adventures, both big and small, and to cherish the moments you share with your loved ones. As we continue our journey through the Serra de Tramuntana, I am excited to see what else this beautiful region has in store for us. This trip reminds me of the importance of family, resilience, and embracing new beginnings, values that I hold dear as a Syrian woman living in Germany.
