Today was a day of pushing my boundaries and indulging in the beauty that the Bsharri District has to offer. From rappelling down a cliffside to savoring authentic Lebanese cuisine and unwinding in a lively pub, it was a day filled with unforgettable experiences. It reminded me why I embarked on this solo journey – to challenge myself, connect with new cultures, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

The crisp morning air invigorated me as I prepared for my first adventure: rappelling in Rappel Bchare. I fueled up with a hearty breakfast at Janet Al Arez, a restaurant known for its traditional Lebanese dishes. The mezze platter was a delightful assortment of flavors, and I made sure to try their special desserts, which were highly recommended. Eating outside, I enjoyed breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. It was a perfect start to a day filled with excitement. I made a mental note to bring Klaus and the children here one day; they would love the blend of delicious food and stunning scenery.

Arriving at the rappelling site, Rappel Bchare, my heart pounded with a mix of excitement and trepidation. Scaling down the side of a mountain on a rope was exhilarating, especially with an expert guiding me every step of the way. There were options for both easy and intermediate level drops, and I decided to challenge myself with the intermediate one. The feeling of accomplishment as I reached the bottom was incredible; it was a true test of courage and a moment I will never forget. This experience reminded me of the resilience I've cultivated since leaving Syria, adapting to new environments and overcoming challenges with unwavering determination.

After the adrenaline rush, I was ready for a change of pace. I headed to Ehden Adventures Off-road Site, seeking a different kind of thrill. While I didn't personally engage in off-roading, the site offered a vibrant atmosphere and a chance to witness the stunning natural beauty of the area. It was fascinating to see others navigate the rugged terrain, and I enjoyed soaking in the energy of the surroundings. It was a welcome contrast to the solitude I sometimes feel on this solo journey, a reminder that shared experiences can be just as enriching as personal ones.

Lunch was at Atlal Restaurant, a culinary gem in Bsharri known for its authentic Lebanese cuisine and breathtaking views. I savored a variety of traditional dishes, all prepared with fresh, local ingredients. The warm hospitality of the owners made me feel right at home, greeting me with homemade treats like olives, pickles, and fresh nuts. The restaurant's location, surrounded by majestic mountains, added a magical touch to the meal. The flavors of Lebanon danced on my palate, reminding me of the rich culinary heritage of my homeland, Syria. It was a comforting and nostalgic experience, a moment of connection to my roots amidst this new adventure.

As the day wound down, I decided to experience the local nightlife. I ventured to Minus Pub in Ehden, a vibrant bar known for its lively atmosphere and fantastic drinks. The pub was bustling with locals and tourists alike, creating a welcoming vibe. I enjoyed a refreshing drink, soaking in the sounds of laughter and music. It was a perfect way to unwind after a day of adventure, a chance to mingle with others and experience the local culture. The energy of the pub reminded me of the vibrant social gatherings in Al-Suqaylabiyah, where community bonds were strengthened through shared laughter and camaraderie.

For dinner, I chose La Caverne Restaurant, another culinary gem in Bsharri. The restaurant is celebrated for its traditional Lebanese dishes and grilled meats. I opted for their signature grilled kebabs, paired with a fresh salad. The warm and welcoming ambiance made it an ideal spot to reflect on the day's adventures. The staff were incredibly friendly, helping me navigate the menu and suggesting the perfect dish to suit my palate. Eating here, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to experience the beauty and flavors of Lebanon.

The weather today was perfect for outdoor activities. The temperature in Bsharri in September typically ranges from highs of around 24°C to lows of around 14°C. September is also relatively dry, with only a few rainy days expected throughout the month. This made it ideal for rappelling and exploring the surrounding areas. I am glad that I packed layers, as it can get cooler in the evenings, especially at higher altitudes.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, I plan to visit Saydet el Hosn - Lady of the Fortress سيدة الحصن and Les Jardins des Patriarches Maronites. I'm eager to explore these historical and cultural landmarks, delving deeper into the rich heritage of the Bsharri District. I also plan to visit Cedart - Liliane, a local shop, to find a unique souvenir to remind me of my time here. Before this, I plan on having breakfast at LBayt Baytak, lunch at Rtc - Restaurant, and dinner at Paradise Cedars | Restaurant & Chalets.
