Today, I ventured deeper into the heart of Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, eager to uncover more of its hidden treasures. With a flexible itinerary and the spirit of a solo traveler, I knew today would be another unforgettable chapter in my Pyrenean adventure. I was excited to see what the day would bring, especially after my near-disaster with forgetting sunscreen and a first-aid kit.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Llesqueria l'Empriu in Taüll. I decided to try their *amanida de formatge de cabra*, a local delicacy. The combination of fresh goat cheese, crisp greens, and a light vinaigrette was the perfect way to fuel up for a day of hiking. I also had a *café con leche*, which gave me the extra boost I needed.

After breakfast, I set off towards Bosc del Gerdar, a national forest known for its serene beauty. As I entered the forest, I was immediately enveloped by the tranquility of the towering trees and the vibrant flora. The air was filled with the gentle sounds of rustling leaves and chirping birds, creating a soothing symphony that washed away any lingering stress. I took my time wandering through the scenic paths, pausing to admire the sunlight filtering through the canopy. The forest is known as the largest fir wood in the south of the Pyrenees, and it was easy to see why.

I made a mental note to bring Astrid and Max here someday; they would absolutely love it. I have been thinking a lot about them during this trip, and I miss them dearly.

Next on my itinerary was Circ de Colomers, a stunning cirque known for its numerous lakes and breathtaking views. The hike to the cirque was moderately challenging, but the panoramic vistas along the way were more than worth the effort. The trail wound through rocky terrain and past crystal-clear streams, each turn revealing a new and captivating perspective. It was easy to see why the route of the 7 lakes of Colomers is so popular. Although there are actually 32 lakes in the area, visiting all of them would require more time than I had.

Reaching the cirque, I was greeted by a landscape of pristine lakes reflecting the surrounding peaks. I thought about Maximilian and Astrid, and I felt a familiar pang of longing for them, but it was quickly replaced with contentment as I appreciated the beauty around me.

For lunch, I stopped at Restaurant Mallador in Pla de l'Ermita. I chose the *truita de riu*, a local trout dish. The fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the simple yet delicious preparation. It was a welcome respite after my hike, and the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant added to the experience.

I ordered a glass of local wine and savored the moment, reflecting on the day's adventures. The bar had a homely vibe, and I felt comfortable sitting there, enjoying the moment. I overheard some locals discussing the Fallas festival, which takes place in late June and July. The tradition involves carrying lit torches down the mountainsides, but unfortunately, I will miss it by a few weeks.

I decided to try the *Olla Aranesa*, a hearty stew made with local ingredients. The flavors were rich and complex, and I could taste the history and tradition in every bite. The restaurant itself was cozy, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. It felt like stepping back in time, and I savored every moment of the experience.
