Today was a symphony of sand and sun, a day where the vastness of the Sahara truly seeped into my soul. From thrilling adventures across the dunes to savoring the authentic tastes of Morocco, every moment felt like a scene from a classic travel film. It's amazing how quickly the desert can make you feel both insignificant and incredibly connected to the world.

The day began with a hearty breakfast at Resturant Nora. The aroma of freshly baked bread and strong coffee filled the air, a comforting start before venturing into the wild landscapes that awaited. We fueled up with traditional Moroccan fare, preparing ourselves for the adventures ahead. With breakfast done, we met our guides for the Sahara Safari adventure. The safari itself was nothing short of exhilarating. We traversed the seemingly endless dunes in a sturdy 4x4, the vehicle skillfully navigating the sandy terrain. The views were breathtaking – a sea of golden sand stretching as far as the eye could see. I couldn't resist pulling out my recording gear, attempting to capture the sound of the wind as it danced across the dunes. It’s a challenge to describe the feeling of being surrounded by such immense natural beauty, but I hope the recordings will bring some of that experience back home to Potsdam.

We stopped at several vantage points, each offering a unique perspective of the Sahara. Our guides shared stories of the desert, its history, and the nomadic Berber people who call it home. It was fascinating to learn about their traditions and way of life, so intertwined with the rhythms of the desert. I even picked up a few phrases in Berber, much to the amusement of my friends.

For lunch, we stopped at Cafe Restaurant Itran. This charming eatery provided a welcome respite from the desert heat. We indulged in traditional Moroccan cuisine, savoring the flavors of tagine and couscous. The mint tea, of course, was a must – a refreshing and revitalizing drink that perfectly complemented the meal. The cafe itself was a vibrant hub of activity, filled with locals and travelers alike, all sharing stories and experiences.

As the sun began to dip towards the horizon, we made our way to Café Restaurant Chez Ibrahim for dinner. This spot is known for its authentic Berber pizzas, and I was eager to try one. The restaurant had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The pizza was delicious, a unique blend of flavors that perfectly captured the essence of Moroccan cuisine.

With our bellies full and our spirits high, we decided to cap off the night at Kasbah Merzouga Bar. The bar had a relaxed vibe, and we enjoyed some local music while sipping on refreshing drinks. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of adventure. I even managed to capture some of the music with my recording equipment, hoping to add it to my collection of desert sounds.

Reflecting on the day, I’m struck by how the Sahara manages to be both imposing and inviting. The vastness of the landscape can feel overwhelming, yet there’s also a sense of peace and tranquility that’s hard to find elsewhere. The sounds of the desert – the wind, the silence, the distant music – create a unique soundscape that I’m eager to explore further.

Tomorrow marks the last day of our desert adventure. We plan to visit 'See Around Morocco' and explore the 'Merzouga top itinerary'. I'm hoping to capture a few more recordings before we head back to Marrakesh. We’ll have breakfast at Cafe Snack Restaurant Said, lunch at Cafe Restaurant Tenere, and a final dinner at Kasr Diafa Restaurant & Snack & Cafe. Before leaving, I intend to pick up some souvenirs at the Morocco Products Shop. It’s always nice to bring a piece of the journey back home, a tangible reminder of the experiences shared and the lessons learned.

As I sit here under the starlit sky, the memories of the day swirling in my mind, I am filled with gratitude for this incredible experience. The Sahara has a way of stripping away the superficial and revealing what truly matters. It’s a place where you can reconnect with yourself, with nature, and with the simple joys of life. And as I drift off to sleep, I know that the whispers of the desert will stay with me long after I’ve left.
