Today was a day of sheer awe and wonder as I delved deeper into the heart of the Dades Valley. The dramatic landscapes, sculpted by millennia of natural forces, left me breathless at every turn. From panoramic viewpoints to ancient citadels, the valley revealed its treasures one by one, each more captivating than the last. It was a day of exploration, immersion, and profound connection with the raw beauty of Morocco.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Café-restaurant Timzzillite Chez Mohamed. Fueled by strong coffee and local pastries, I set out to conquer the valley's most iconic viewpoints. The cafe is known for its authentic Moroccan dishes, blending traditional recipes with fresh, local ingredients. Many visitors order the tajine and kefta. First on the agenda was the famed Dades View. As I ascended the winding road, the landscape transformed into a breathtaking panorama of rugged canyons, verdant oases, and ancient kasbahs clinging to the hillsides. The Dades River snaked its way through the valley floor, a lifeline sustaining the vibrant ecosystem. I spent a good hour simply soaking in the view, capturing photos, and etching the scene into my memory. The Dades Valley, also referred to as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, offers a tapestry of natural wonders and rich cultural heritage.

Next, I ventured towards the Monkey Finger viewpoint. The geological formations here were truly bizarre, resembling giant fingers reaching skyward. Erosion had sculpted the sandstone cliffs into these peculiar shapes, creating a surreal and otherworldly landscape. I clambered over rocks, seeking the perfect vantage point to capture these natural sculptures against the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains. The best times to photograph these stunning formations are during the early morning or late afternoon when the light casts long shadows and the orange glow of the sun accentuates their contours.

After a morning of exploration, my stomach began to rumble, leading me to Riad Restaurant Pizzeria Marhaba for lunch. The blend of Moroccan and Italian cuisine was intriguing, and I decided to try their wood-fired pizza. It was a delightful fusion of flavors, the crispy crust and savory toppings providing the perfect fuel for the afternoon's adventures. The location is in the middle of the Dades Gorge. A guest wrote, 'amazing hospitality and the best pizza in the valley!'. Another guest wrote, 'The location is just at the footsteps of Gorges. In good temperatures you can sit out and enjoy the rivers sound in value'.

With renewed energy, I set my sights on the Citadelle Dades. This ancient fortress stood proudly atop a strategic hilltop, a testament to the region's rich history and Berber heritage. As I explored the crumbling walls and winding alleyways, I imagined the lives of those who once sought refuge within its protective embrace. The views from the citadel were simply stunning, offering a panoramic perspective of the entire valley. The Dades Valley is known as 'The valley of the thousand Kasbahs'.

As the sun began its descent, casting a golden glow over the valley, I sought out a spot to unwind and reflect on the day's experiences. Cafè restaurant ASANFOU ATBIR beckoned with its promise of traditional Moroccan hospitality and a refreshing glass of mint tea. However, it seems that the restaurant is permanently closed. Instead, I found a small roadside cafe and ordered a mint tea. Sipping the sweet, fragrant brew, I watched as the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors, painting a masterpiece across the Dades Valley.

For dinner, I chose La famille kasbah. The Kasbah offers family rooms with air-conditioning, private bathrooms, and garden or mountain views. A guest wrote, 'Very clean property with a wonderful personable host. Had breakfast and dinner at the property and both were very satisfying'.

Tomorrow, I plan to explore the Monkey Paw Mountains, Azrou n itbirn, and the Labyrinth kasbah Dades. I am also planning on doing some shopping at accessoires dades abd elhamid.

As I sit here now, penning these thoughts under a canopy of stars, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences of today. The Dades Valley has exceeded all expectations, offering a glimpse into a world of raw beauty, rich culture, and the enduring spirit of the Berber people.
