Today was all about soaking in the essence of Ronda, venturing beyond the iconic bridge to find the stories etched into its lesser-known corners. It's amazing how much character a place reveals when you wander just a little off the beaten path. From panoramic views that stole my breath to ancient houses whispering tales of Moorish nobility, Ronda continued to surprise and enchant me at every turn.

Our day began with a delightful breakfast at Restaurante La Casapuerta. Hans and I shared some delicious tapas and strong coffee, fueling up for a day of exploration. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere made it the perfect start. Gema Lopez, a Google reviewer, mentioned the fantastic experience, the professional and friendly waitress, and the delicious tapas. It was a sentiment we wholeheartedly shared. The terrace was perfect for enjoying the morning sun. Feeling energized, we set off to discover Ronda's less-trodden paths.

Our first stop was the Mirador de Aldehuela. The drive there was scenic, winding through the Andalusian countryside. As we approached, the anticipation grew, and the view from the Mirador was nothing short of spectacular. Perched on the edge of a cliff, it offered a sweeping panorama of the Ronda Valley. The gentle breeze and serene ambiance made it a perfect spot for reflection. I took countless photos, trying to capture the vastness and beauty of the landscape. Hans, ever the patient photographer, helped me find the best angles. We lingered there for a while, simply absorbing the tranquility and the stunning vista. I can imagine that this place is especially magical during sunrise or sunset.

Next on our itinerary was the Casa del Gigante. This ancient house, dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries, offered a glimpse into Ronda's Moorish past. The name Casa del Gigante comes from the stone figure placed at the corner of the building. The house is considered one of the most complete examples of Nasrid architecture outside of Granada. As we wandered through the rooms, I couldn't help but imagine the lives of those who had lived there centuries ago. The architecture was fascinating, with horseshoe arches, ornate stucco work, and decorative wooden ceilings. The courtyard, with its orange tree, provided a peaceful oasis. The small museum on the top floor offered a video presentation about the history of Ronda, which was incredibly informative. It's amazing how much history is packed into this relatively small town.

Leaving Casa del Gigante, we strolled along the Paseo De Los Ingleses. This romantic mountain walkway, built by British engineers, offered more stunning views of the valley. The legend says that English gentlemen used to come here to enjoy the fresh mountain air. The walkway was perfect for a leisurely stroll, and we enjoyed soaking up the beauty of Ronda. The views of the Puente Nuevo bridge and the surrounding landscape were simply breathtaking. I couldn't resist taking more photos, trying to capture the magic of the moment. This spot is great for an afternoon stroll to soak up the beauty of Ronda.

For lunch, we ventured a bit outside the city center to Venta La Higuera. This restaurant came highly recommended for its authentic Spanish cuisine and rustic charm. The menu was extensive, featuring a variety of traditional dishes. Hans opted for the grilled meat, while I chose a selection of tapas. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and we enjoyed chatting with the friendly staff. It was a truly authentic Spanish dining experience.

In the afternoon, we decided to do some shopping. I had read about ArtesamArt, a local craft shop that emphasized handmade products. We found the shop on Calle Virgen de la Paz and were immediately drawn in by the beautiful displays. The shop featured a wide variety of crafts, including leather goods, ceramics, and hand-painted fans. I was particularly impressed by the intricate details and the quality of the craftsmanship. I ended up buying a beautiful hand-painted fan as a souvenir. The shop assistant told us that ArtesamArt is a leather workshop and craft store whose main objective is the enhancement of local, regional and national craftsmanship. It felt good to support local artisans and take home a unique piece of Ronda.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to El Morabito for dinner. This restaurant is known for its enchanting views of the rolling hills of Andalusia. We arrived just in time to watch the sunset, which painted the sky in hues of orange, pink, and purple. The views were truly mesmerizing. The restaurant itself was charming, with a cozy atmosphere and a spectacular fireplace. We ordered a selection of Mediterranean and Spanish dishes, which were all delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, making our dining experience even more enjoyable.
