It’s moments like these that remind me why I traded the familiar comforts of Bamberg for the open road, camera in hand, ready to capture the world's hidden gems.

The morning started early, as I was eager to make the most of the day. After a quick breakfast, I set off towards Cachoeira da Fumaça, Brazil's second-highest waterfall. The drive itself was an experience, the landscape transforming with every turn, showcasing the raw beauty of Bahia. The closer I got to Vale do Capão, the starting point for the Fumaça trail, the more my excitement grew.

The hike to the top of Cachoeira da Fumaça is no walk in the park; it’s a good 6-kilometer trek each way. I wanted to pick up a few souvenirs for Hans and Liesel, something to remind them of my adventures in Bahia. The shop was indeed a treasure trove of local crafts, organic foods, and unique gifts. I ended up buying some aromatic soaps made in Vale do Capão, some locally grown coffee from Piatã, and a couple of Chapada Diamantina-themed t-shirts for my family. It's always a pleasure to support local businesses and share their creations with loved ones.
