A Breath of Fresh Air

Today was a day of embracing nature and indulging in the local flavors of the Moulay Idriss Region. Olivia and I ventured into the heart of the Moroccan landscape, savoring every moment and creating memories that I know we'll cherish forever. From exploring verdant parks to tasting authentic dishes, it was a day that truly awakened our senses.

Our day began with a hearty Moroccan breakfast at Café Restaurant Ksar Pharaon. The café had a charming ambiance, adorned with local decor that immediately immersed us in the culture. I opted for the traditional mint tea and a selection of pastries, while Olivia chose a savory tagine. The flavors were rich and authentic, providing the perfect start to our day of exploration.

With our appetites satisfied, we set out to explore Bab Rmila Natural Park. The park is located close to the village of Maghasiyen, not far from Moulay Idriss, and the drive there was scenic, offering glimpses of the rolling hills and verdant landscapes. As we arrived, the fresh air and lush greenery enveloped us, a welcome change from the bustling city.

We spent the morning hiking through the park's well-maintained trails. The paths were easy to navigate, and we found ourselves surrounded by a diverse array of trees, including pine, eucalyptus and oak. The sunlight filtering through the leaves created a magical atmosphere, and the sounds of chirping birds added to the sense of tranquility.

Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.

Olivia, ever the artist, was captivated by the natural beauty of Bab Rmila. She paused frequently to capture the scenery with her camera, while I enjoyed the opportunity to stretch my legs and breathe in the fresh air. We even spotted some local wildlife, including a few playful squirrels and a variety of colorful birds.

As we hiked, we stumbled upon a shaded picnic area. We decided to take a break and enjoy the snacks we had packed. Sitting at the wooden table, surrounded by the sounds of nature, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. It was a simple moment, but one that I knew I would remember fondly.

After our time in Bab Rmila, we decided to explore Kasabah Senhaji. Although it's known as a hotel, we were interested in experiencing the area surrounding it, known for its cultural significance and stunning landscapes. We wandered through the narrow, winding streets, soaking in the atmosphere and admiring the traditional Moroccan architecture.

For lunch, we chose Haytam, a local restaurant known for its authentic Moroccan cuisine. The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the aroma of spices filled the air. We decided to try the tagine, a traditional Moroccan dish cooked in a clay pot. The tagine was flavorful and aromatic, and the meat was tender and succulent. It was a truly authentic culinary experience that I would highly recommend.

After lunch, we explored a shop in the area of Bab Moulay Idriss. I was on the lookout for unique souvenirs to bring back home. The shop was filled with an array of traditional Moroccan crafts, including ceramics, textiles, and woodwork. I ended up purchasing a beautifully crafted ceramic bowl, while Olivia found a hand-woven scarf.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to Grillade Albanna for dinner. The restaurant is known for its grilled meats and traditional Moroccan dishes. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and we were quickly seated at a cozy table. I ordered the mixed grill, while Olivia opted for the couscous. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. It was the perfect way to end our day of exploration.

Tomorrow, we plan to visit the Mausoleum of al-Hadi ben Issa and Le portail de Moulay Ismaïl, further delving into the rich history and culture of this region. We're also looking forward to trying out SCORPION HOUSE, both as a restaurant for lunch and a bar for a relaxing evening.

As I write this, I'm already excited about what tomorrow will bring. The Moulay Idriss Region continues to surprise and delight us, and I can't wait to see what other treasures we'll uncover.

I also realized that I forgot to pack a sun hat and a local SIM card, which would have been useful today. Note to self: always double-check the essentials!
