Today was all about soaking in the simple pleasures of Futaleufu. After several days of adrenaline-pumping adventures, I decided to slow down and explore the local side of this Patagonian paradise. It turned out to be a day filled with unexpected beauty and delightful encounters.

My day started with a hearty breakfast at Once Once Restaurant. The name itself is intriguing, isn't it? It reminded me of that feeling when the clock strikes 11:11, and you make a wish. Though I was in Chile, the restaurant's name made me think of Berlin, where digital clocks are as ubiquitous as Currywurst stands. I opted for a traditional Chilean breakfast, fueling up for a day of exploration. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made it a perfect start to the day.

With a full stomach, I set out for Playa Los Lolos. The beach is nestled in the heart of Futaleufu, surrounded by dramatic landscapes. The crisp air and the sound of the water were incredibly refreshing. I spent a couple of hours simply sitting by the shore, watching the waves and soaking in the tranquility. It was a welcome change of pace from the adrenaline-fueled activities of the past few days.

The lagoon itself was a mirror of the surrounding mountains, creating a picture-perfect scene. I took some time to simply sit by the water, reflecting on my journey so far. It’s moments like these, surrounded by nature's grandeur, that make me appreciate the decision to embark on this solo adventure. It reminded me of the lakes near Berlin, where Lena and I often go to escape the city's hustle and bustle.

For lunch, I headed to Hosteria Rio Grande, a cozy spot known for its Patagonian cuisine. The Hostería Rio Grande is a warm and welcoming hotel in the town of Futaleufú, dedicated to satisfying the needs of travelers and adventurers in Patagonia, Chile. I decided to try a local specialty, and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant had a rustic charm, with wooden interiors and a fireplace that added to the cozy ambiance. It felt like stepping back in time, away from the digital world I inhabit back in Berlin.

As the afternoon waned, I made my way to La Base 13K Restaurante Futaleufú for dinner. Located a bit outside town, the restaurant offered a unique dining experience with Peruvian flavors mixed with Chilean and Patagonian products. Christian and Gisella, the owners, have created a cozy atmosphere where one can spend a pleasant afternoon. The exquisite ceviche and pisco sour Peruvian style were the perfect way to recharge after a challenging day.

To cap off the evening, I decided to check out Patio Cervecero Futaleufu 2019, a local bar known for its craft beers. I sampled a couple of local brews and chatted with some of the locals, learning more about the town and its culture. It was a great way to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures. The bar had a lively atmosphere, with music and laughter filling the air. It was a far cry from the quiet pubs of Berlin, but I found myself enjoying the energy and the camaraderie.

Tomorrow, I am planning to visit Río Espolon and Pumalin National Park. I’ve heard great things about both, and I’m excited to explore more of the natural beauty of this region. I’m also looking forward to trying the pizzas at ECLYPZZA (formerly Pizzas de Fabio) for breakfast and the Italian cuisine at Antigua Casona Hotel - Restaurante Italiano for lunch. And who knows, maybe I’ll find some unique souvenirs at Dulce Hechicera. It sounds like another day filled with adventure and discovery!

As I sit here, writing this blog post, I can't help but feel grateful for the experiences I've had today. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best way to travel is to simply wander, explore, and let the destination surprise you. It is those moments of serendipity that make travel so rewarding, and I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
