Today was a delightful blend of relaxation and cultural immersion here in Hoi An. After several days of exploring the historical sites, I was eager to experience the natural beauty and artistic traditions that this region has to offer. Hans and I set out with a sense of anticipation, ready to embrace the day's itinerary.

Our morning began with a hearty breakfast at Nhà hàng Cơm Linh. I had read some mixed reviews, but we decided to give it a try, eager to sample some authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant was charmingly decorated with traditional lanterns, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. I opted for the Hoi An chicken rice, a local specialty, and Hans chose the *bun cha*. My chicken rice was fragrant and flavorful, with tender chicken and a delicious sauce. Hans thoroughly enjoyed his *bun cha*, finding it both refreshing and satisfying. It was a delightful start to the day, fueling us for our upcoming adventures. I made a mental note to try to recreate the chicken rice back in Leipzig; it would be a wonderful reminder of our time here. It is nice to try the local cuisine, especially since I do enjoy culinary arts.

Next on our agenda was a visit to Cua Dai Beach. The weather in December is mild, with average temperatures ranging from 19°C to 26°C. Although December is considered the rainy season, the rainfall is typically less than in previous months. As we arrived, the beach unfolded before us, a picturesque scene of smooth white sand, clear blue water, and lush coconut trees. The sea temperature was a comfortable 26.6°C, perfect for a refreshing dip.

We spent a blissful couple of hours lounging on the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the gentle sea breeze. Hans, ever the architect, was fascinated by the way the light played on the water, sketching in his notebook as he observed the patterns. I, on the other hand, simply enjoyed the tranquility, listening to the waves and watching the local fishermen casting their nets. Cua Dai Beach is known for its peaceful atmosphere, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Although it was tempting to stay longer, we had other destinations on our list, so we packed up our things and headed towards our next adventure.

Our stomachs started to rumble, so we headed to MIX Greek Restaurant for lunch. It felt a little odd to be eating Greek food in Vietnam, but several reviews had raved about its authenticity and deliciousness. The restaurant was charming, with a cozy and inviting ambiance. Hans ordered the beef souvlaki, while I opted for the chicken gyros. The portions were generous, and the food was incredibly flavorful. Hans raved about his beef, declaring it melt-in-your-mouth tender. My chicken gyros were equally satisfying, with perfectly seasoned chicken and a delicious tzatziki sauce. It was a delightful culinary detour, and we left feeling completely satisfied.

With our appetites sated, we ventured to the Hoi An Handicraft Village - Xóm Thủ Công Hội An. This was an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture and witness the artistry of the region firsthand. Hoi An has a rich tradition of handicrafts, with various villages specializing in different crafts such as pottery, carpentry, and lantern making.

We explored several workshops, marveling at the skill and dedication of the artisans. In one workshop, we watched a potter skillfully mold clay into intricate shapes, creating beautiful vases and bowls. In another, we observed a carpenter meticulously carving wood into delicate figurines. The level of detail and craftsmanship was truly impressive. I was particularly drawn to the lantern-making workshop, where artisans were creating colorful lanterns in various shapes and sizes. The lanterns are a symbol of Hoi An, and their vibrant hues add a touch of magic to the town. I couldn't resist purchasing a small silk lantern as a souvenir, a reminder of the artistry and beauty of Hoi An. Perhaps I will try my hand at making them when I return home, I thought to myself.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to SECRET GARDEN HOIAN for dinner. Tucked away in a quiet alley, this restaurant is a hidden gem, offering a serene escape from the bustling streets. The setting was enchanting, with lush greenery, a fish pond, and soft lighting creating a romantic ambiance. We ordered a selection of traditional Vietnamese dishes, including *cao lầu* and spring rolls. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the service was impeccable. It was the perfect way to end a day of exploration and discovery.

After dinner, we decided to check out Guitar Hawaii Coffee Bar Restaurant Hoi An for a nightcap. The bar had a laid-back vibe, with live music adding to the atmosphere. We enjoyed a couple of drinks, listening to the talented musicians playing a mix of Vietnamese and Western songs. It was a fun and relaxing way to unwind before heading back to our hotel.

As I reflect on today's adventures, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to experience the beauty and culture of Hoi An. Tomorrow, we plan to visit the Rehahn Gallery and the Hidden Hammock Spot, eager to uncover more of Hoi An's hidden treasures. It is hard to believe that this trip is coming to an end. I have enjoyed the sun and warmth, which is quite a contrast to the cold winters we have back in Leipzig.
