Today was a day of contrasts, a dance between the spiritual heights of the Sanctuary of Penha and the grounded serenity of Guimarães' charming gardens. Hans and I embarked on a journey that took us soaring above the city and then gently guided us back down to its tranquil heart. It was a day of reflection, exploration, and, of course, delicious Portuguese flavors.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Restaurante Virtudes. The aroma of freshly baked bread and strong coffee filled the air, a perfect start to fuel our adventures. I opted for a traditional *pastel de nata*, while Hans enjoyed a savory *sandes de leitão*. Energized, we set off towards our first destination: the Sanctuary of Penha.

To reach the sanctuary, we decided to take the Teleferico. As the cable car ascended, Guimarães unfolded beneath us like a living map. The crust was perfectly crisp, the toppings were fresh and flavorful, and the overall taste was simply divine. It was a delightful end to a day filled with Portuguese delights.

As we walked back to Hotel De Guimaraes, hand in hand, I reflected on the day's experiences. It was a day that perfectly captured the essence of Guimarães: a city where history, culture, and nature intertwine to create an unforgettable experience.

Before drifting off to sleep, I realized I had forgotten to pack sunscreen and a travel adapter. Note to self: add those to the list for tomorrow's shopping!

I am also glad that I found out that the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions and World Championships took place here last year! I would have loved to see that.
