Seaside Serenity and Evening Reflections
Today was a symphony of sun, sea, and savory delights. I embraced the freedom of solo travel, allowing myself to be led by the whispers of the wind and the allure of the Aegean coast. It was a day of simple pleasures, from the feel of the sand between my toes to the taste of authentic Greek cuisine.
My day began with a hearty breakfast at O Christos in Agios Ioannis. The tavern is celebrated for its authentic Greek cuisine and the freshest grilled fish. I savored the simplicity of perfectly grilled fish, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality. Paired with a glass of local white wine, it was a delightful start to my coastal adventure. The laid-back atmosphere and familial warmth of O Christos made me feel like a local, and the personalized service ensured that every recommendation was spot on.

With a full stomach and a spring in my step, I set off to Agii Saranta Beach. The drive itself was an experience, winding through the lush landscapes of Mount Pelion, the air crisp and clean. Agii Saranta is a true gem, combining mountain greenery with the deep blue of the Aegean Sea. The beach boasts golden sand, smooth pebbles, and crystal-clear waters, creating an inviting setting for relaxation and recreation. As I settled onto the beach, I was immediately struck by the iconic rock formation known as The Monk or Kalogeros. This large rock, resembling a kneeling figure, stands proudly near the shore, a testament to nature's artistry. I spent a good part of the morning swimming in the clear waters and basking in the sun. The water was so clear that I could see the small fishes darting around my feet.

The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.
After soaking up the sun, I decided to explore the area around Monk Rock. According to locals, the rock looks lonely and curved. I rented a canoe and paddled out to get a closer look, marveling at its unique shape and the way it seemed to guard the coastline. The area is perfect for snorkeling, and I enjoyed watching the marine life in the crystal-clear waters.

For lunch, I ventured to Portaria, seeking out Tavern Pelion Geuseis. This traditional tavern is nestled in the picturesque mountains and is known for its warm hospitality and stunning views. The terrace, shaded by lush vines, offered a breathtaking panorama of Volos and the Pagasetic Gulf. I indulged in homemade dishes like savory pork and beef stew and the celebrated Skopelos cheese-pie, all made from fresh, local ingredients. The food was a celebration of Greek cuisine, with generous portions and delightful flavors that transported me to the heart of the region. The staff, especially Christos the waiter, were incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home.

As the day wound down, I found myself drawn to Paralos Bar. The bar has a friendly atmosphere, and the staff are highly professional. It was the perfect spot to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures. I enjoyed a refreshing cocktail as I watched the sunset, the sky ablaze with colors. The music was chill, and the vibe was just right.

Dinner was at Pagasitikos Restaurant in Kala Nera. This family-run establishment has been in operation since 1934 and is one of the oldest and most cherished restaurants in the region. Situated next to the beach, Pagasitikos offers a wide selection of traditional dishes, fresh seafood, and local specialties. I savored the grilled meat and fresh seafood, accompanied by local organic wine. The friendly atmosphere and delicious cuisine made it a perfect end to a perfect day.

Tomorrow, I plan to explore the Tree of Life and Chorefto Beach. I'm also hoping to find some unique souvenirs at Centaurs Cave SHOP. As I drift off to sleep, I'm filled with gratitude for the experiences of today and excitement for what tomorrow holds. Mount Pelion continues to surprise and delight, and I'm eager to see what other treasures await.

P.S. I really need to remember a portable phone charger next time! It would have been nice to take some more photos at the beach. Oh well!
