Today was a day of profound discovery, a deep dive into the heart of Inca history. As I sit here, the Andean air crisp around me, I'm filled with a sense of awe and respect for the civilization that once thrived in these mountains. The trek to Choquequirao Archaeological Park and the challenging ascent to Abra Choquequirao were more than just physical feats; they were journeys back in time.

After breakfast, I set off towards Choquequirao. The bus ride to the trailhead was filled with anticipation. I couldn't help but think about Ananda, my son, and how he would have loved to join me on this adventure. He's always been fascinated by history, and I know he would have been captivated by the stories that these ancient stones hold.

The initial stretch of the trek was relatively gentle, allowing me to soak in the scenery. The Andes are truly majestic, their peaks piercing the sky like ancient guardians. As I walked, I couldn't help but reflect on why I chose this particular journey. It wasn't just about seeing the ruins; it was about connecting with a culture, understanding a history, and challenging myself in ways that I don't often get to do in my everyday life.

The afternoon brought the most challenging part of the day: the ascent to Abra Choquequirao. The trail was steep and demanding, testing my physical limits at every turn. The air thinned with every step, and my lungs burned with the effort, but I kept going. I remembered all those hikes with Nang in the Laurentian Mountains, preparing me for moments just like these.

The snow-capped peaks in the distance seemed close enough to touch, and the clouds danced around them like playful spirits. I enjoyed a refreshing drink, soaking in the atmosphere and chatting with fellow travelers. It was the perfect way to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures.
