Today was all about diving deeper into what Essaouira has to offer beyond its bustling medina. I wanted to experience the natural landscapes and savor more of the local flavors that make this coastal town so unique. It was a day of exploration, relaxation, and culinary delights, shared with some incredible company.

The day began with a hearty breakfast at The Hungry Nomad Rooftop Essaouira. I had heard so much about their rooftop views and delicious Moroccan cuisine, and it certainly lived up to the hype. Sipping on traditional mint tea while overlooking the city and the Atlantic Ocean was the perfect way to start the day. The kefta tagine with lentils was a standout dish, blending savory and spicy flavors in a way that only Moroccan cuisine can.

After breakfast, we met up with our guides from Be In Naturetours Essaouira. I was eager to explore the natural beauty surrounding Essaouira, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. For lunch, we chose Restaurant Chez Les Frères, a local favorite known for its Italian and Moroccan cuisines. The tagine and sardine were highly recommended, and I was eager to try them. The restaurant had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I opted for the fish tagine, while my friends tried the sardine and cheese salads. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. It was a perfect spot for a satisfying and authentic meal.

As the day wound down, we decided to try Le Corail Vegan Food, a vegan restaurant that had caught my attention. As someone who enjoys exploring different culinary options, I was curious to see what vegan Moroccan food had to offer. The restaurant was small and cozy, with a charming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the menu was full of interesting and creative dishes.

I ordered the vegetable tagine, while my friends tried the vegan burgers and spring rolls. The food was surprisingly delicious, and I was impressed by the creative use of vegetables and spices. It was a refreshing and healthy meal that left me feeling satisfied and energized.

To end the day, we headed to Taros, a popular rooftop bar known for its sunset views and lively atmosphere. The bar was located above the medina walls, offering stunning views of the ramparts and the beach. The rooftop terrace was the perfect spot to enjoy a sundowner cocktail and soak in the scenery. The atmosphere was vibrant, with live music adding to the fun and social vibe.

We ordered some Casablanca lagers and enjoyed the sunset views. The music was great, and the company was even better. It was the perfect way to end a day of exploration and relaxation. As the night went on, the bar transformed into a dance floor, and we found ourselves dancing the night away. It was a memorable end to a fantastic day in Essaouira.

The summer months in Essaouira are quite busy with tourists eager to enjoy the cooler days and evenings. Fortunately, the weather has been idyllic, much more bearable than inland cities like Fes and Marrakech. The blend of domestic and European tourists creates a vibrant atmosphere, and the strong winds make it a haven for kitesurfers and windsurfers. Despite the crowds, Essaouira maintains its laid-back charm, making it a perfect destination for a summer escape.

One thing I've learned about traveling, especially with friends, is that flexibility is key. Plans can change, and sometimes the best experiences are the spontaneous ones. Whether it's discovering a hidden gem of a restaurant or stumbling upon a local music performance, these unexpected moments often become the most cherished memories. And, of course, having friends to share these moments with makes them all the more special. I'm grateful for this trip and the opportunity to explore Essaouira with such great company. It's a reminder that travel is not just about seeing new places, but also about creating lasting connections and memories.
