A Day of Discovery in the Dades Valley
Today was a deep dive into the heart of the Dades Valley, a day filled with ancient architecture, stunning landscapes, and the warm hospitality of the Berber people. I'm constantly amazed at how much history and natural beauty is packed into this corner of Morocco. It's days like these that remind me why I traded the predictable life of an office for the open road.
My day began with a hearty breakfast at Soffi Cafe Restaurant in Kalaat M'Gouna. The menu was extensive , and I opted for a traditional Moroccan breakfast, complete with mint tea, of course. It was the perfect way to fuel up for a day of exploring. I must admit, I do miss my simple breakfasts in Hamburg sometimes, but the explosion of flavors here is a worthy trade-off.

With a full stomach, I set off to explore the Labyrinth Kasbah Dades. This beautifully restored kasbah is a true gem, and I spent hours wandering through its maze-like corridors and courtyards. The intricate details of the architecture were fascinating, and I could almost feel the history seeping from the walls. The view from the terrace was spectacular, offering a panoramic vista of the Dades Valley. It's incredible to see how these structures have stood the test of time, टेस्टामेंट to the skill and craftsmanship of the Berber people. I even considered booking a room there for a night, as many reviews raved about the hospitality.

The beauty of Dades Valley lies not just in its landscapes, but in the warmth and resilience of its people.
Next on my list was the Dadès Vallei itself, a sprawling expanse of natural beauty. The valley is known for its dramatic rock formations, lush oases, and the winding Dades River. I decided to take a hike along one of the many trails. The November weather was perfect for hiking, with moderate temperatures during the day. The views were simply breathtaking, and I found myself stopping every few minutes to snap another photo. I even saw some local wildlife, including a few colorful birds and some nimble mountain goats. I thought about my bees back in Hamburg and wondered what they would make of this landscape. I am sure they would approve of the flowers.
For lunch, I stopped at Canyon Dades Restaurant, where I enjoyed a delicious tagine with stunning canyon views. The warm hospitality of the staff made the experience even more enjoyable. It's amazing how a simple meal can be elevated by the atmosphere and the people around you. I considered trying a Berber pizza, but ultimately decided to stick with the classic tagine. The restaurant offered buffet, à la carte, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

In the afternoon, I indulged in a bit of retail therapy at ORINO SHOP in Boumalne Dades. While I wasn't necessarily looking for anything in particular, I always enjoy browsing local shops and seeing what treasures I can find. I ended up buying a beautiful hand-woven scarf, a perfect souvenir to remind me of my time in the Dades Valley. It wasn't a portable solar charger that I forgot to pack, but it will do.

As the day drew to a close, I made my way to Restaurant Chez Aïcha Timlalt for dinner. This charming restaurant is known for its authentic Berber cuisine and its stunning location in the Dades Gorge. I ordered the couscous, which was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and complex, and the portion was generous. I ate on the terrace with incredible views. According to reviews, the tea is also spectacular. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and I felt like I was dining in someone's home. It was the perfect way to end a perfect day.

Reflecting on the day, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences I've had. The Dades Valley is a truly special place, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to explore it. The landscapes are stunning, the architecture is fascinating, and the people are incredibly welcoming. It's a place that nourishes the soul and reminds you of the simple joys of life.
Tomorrow, I plan to continue my exploration of the Dades Valley, with visits to the Tisderine bends and the Gorges Dadés. I'm also looking forward to trying out Ayour cafe restaurant, and Isabel - Chez Moha for dinner. I'm sure there will be more adventures to come, and I can't wait to see what the day holds.
Before heading back to my guesthouse, I took a moment to appreciate the clear, starry night sky. Away from the city lights, the stars seemed brighter and more numerous than I'd ever seen them. It was a humbling reminder of the vastness of the universe and my place within it.
As I drift off to sleep, I'm filled with a sense of peace and contentment. The Dades Valley has captured my heart, and I know that I'll never forget my time here. It's a place that I'll carry with me always, a reminder of the beauty and wonder that exists in the world.
I am so glad I decided to come to Morocco. I have to remember to thank my friend who suggested that I take a break from my beekeeping and explore the world. I wonder what she is up to now?
