The Minarets of Herat: Echoes of Timurid Splendor

The Minarets of Herat are located in western Afghanistan, within the city of Herat in Herat Province [4]. These elegant minarets are the surviving sentinels of the Musalla complex, offering a connection to Afghanistan's history [5, 7]. The Musalla complex was initiated by Queen Gawhar Shad, the wife of Shah Rukh, transforming Herat into a hub of art and intellect [5, 7, 11]. Construction of the complex began in 1417 and included mosques, madrasas, mausoleums, and libraries [6, 7, 8, 11].
