Five Rivers Delta Center: Gateway to Alabama's Natural Beauty

Five Rivers Delta Center acts as a portal to the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, one of the largest river deltas in the United States, encompassing over 250,000 acres of scenic waterways, woods, and wetlands. Here, the Mobile, Spanish, Tensaw, Apalachee, and Blakeley rivers meet before flowing into Mobile Bay, creating a unique environment that supports a diverse array of plant and animal life.The center itself features an exhibit hall, a learning center, and a theater, offering a comprehensive introduction to the delta's ecological significance and human history. Interactive exhibits showcase the delta's diverse flora and fauna, geological formation, and various habitats, from cypress swamps to brackish marshes. Visitors can also learn about the Native American tribes who first inhabited the region and the impact of European settlement.Beyond the exhibits, Five Rivers provides access to a network of trails for hiking and birdwatching. Boat launches offer opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing in the Mobile, Tensaw, Apalachee, Blakeley, and Spanish Rivers. Boat tours and paddling excursions, led by knowledgeable staff, provide firsthand experiences of the delta's natural beauty. The center also hosts various events throughout the year, including bird and nature expos and Delta Discovery Tours.While the Exhibit Hall and Learning Center are currently closed for construction (as of May 2025), the property remains open, offering access to Bartram Landing and public restrooms.
