Discover more about Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail

The Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail offers a unique blend of natural beauty and local history in the heart of Foley, Alabama. Opened in 2007, the trail winds for one mile through downtown, featuring more than 5,000 heritage roses. These roses were carefully selected for their fragrance, hardiness, and historical significance, with each plant identified by name and propagation date. The trail follows the path of the former Louisville and Nashville Railroad (L&N), which played a vital role in Foley's development. The railroad was extended to Foley in 1907 thanks to the town's founder, John B. Foley. Though passenger service ended in 1971 and trains stopped using the line in 1984, the trail now provides a new way to experience this part of Foley's past. The trail is divided into two sections, connected by a walkway completed in recent years. As you stroll along the asphalt path, you'll pass by Heritage Park, the Foley Railroad Museum (located in a former L&N depot), and John B. Foley Park. The spring months, especially April, are the best time to visit, when the roses are in full bloom. The Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail offers a serene escape and a chance to appreciate the beauty and history of Foley.
