Discover more about Graces High Falls

Grace's High Falls, situated in Little River Canyon National Preserve near Fort Payne, Alabama, offers a unique, albeit seasonal, display of natural beauty. Officially recognized as one of Alabama's highest waterfalls at 133 feet, its flow is heavily dependent on rainfall, making it a spectacle primarily visible during the winter and spring months. The falls are located within the 14,000-acre Little River Canyon National Preserve. Unlike other waterfalls in the area that are part of the Little River, Grace's High Falls originates from a river atop Bear Canyon, cascading into Bear Creek, a significant tributary of the Little River. This distinction isn't immediately apparent from the viewpoint, adding an element of surprise to the experience. The falls are viewed from an overlook along the Canyon Rim Drive (AL Hwy 176), offering an easily accessible vantage point suitable for all visitors, including families with children and dogs. While a hike to the base of the falls is possible, it is considered challenging and not for the faint of heart. The surrounding Little River Canyon National Preserve provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation, including hiking, whitewater boating, and rock climbing.
