    Mardis Mill Falls is located at 546 Mardis Mill Rd, Blountsville, AL 35031. From Blountsville, head south on AL-79, then turn right onto Mardis Mill Road. The falls will be on your right. Limited parking is available on the roadside near the trailhead. A new recreation and parking area is under construction as of April 2025. There are no parking fees.

    Blount County Public Transportation (BCPTS) provides demand-response services throughout the county. To reach Mardis Mill Falls, contact BCPTS in advance to schedule a ride. As of July 2025, fares are structured per zone, with a charge of $3.00 per 5-mile zone plus $1.50 per stop outside city limits. Children under 6 ride for $1.00 per stop. Keep in mind that BCPTS operates from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

The site has a rich history, serving as a community hub long before it was a recreation spot.Historically, the area was home to Mardis Mill, built by Sam Mardis, which operated before and during the Civil War. It was one of the earliest grist mills in Blount County, grinding wheat and corn for the community. Families would gather for picnics by the falls, making it a social center. A government-owned still nearby produced brandy from locally grown apples, adding to the area's historical significance.Today, Mardis Mill Falls is a popular destination for swimming, hiking, and bouldering. Visitors can enjoy the refreshing water, explore the rocky riverbed, and even try the rope swing. The Friends of the Locust Fork River (FLFR) have been instrumental in caring for the falls since 2017, ensuring it remains clean and safe for visitors. In January 2025, the Freshwater Land Trust acquired the property, further securing its preservation for future generations. The falls are also home to the federally endangered Black Warrior waterdog, highlighting the area's ecological importance.
