Valbonë-Teth Viewpoint Peak: A Balkan High Point

  The Valbonë-Teth Viewpoint Peak is best accessed from either Valbonë or Theth, typically as part of the popular Valbonë-Theth hiking trail. From Valbonë: The hike to the peak typically starts in the village of Rrogam, about 4km from most guesthouses in Valbona. You can walk to Rrogam, arrange a taxi (around 30 euros), or try to hitchhike. From Rrogam, the trail is well-marked and ascends through a riverbed and wooden area before a steep final push to the pass. From Theth: The trail leads steeply uphill through forests. Regardless of your starting point, the final ascent to the peak may involve some scrambling. Follow the orange trail markers. Be prepared for a steep climb that can take 1.5 to 2 hours from the base of the mountain. Costs: There are no specific entrance fees to access the trail or the viewpoint. However, factor in transportation costs to reach Valbonë or Theth. Minibus transport from Shkoder to Valbona costs roughly 1500 Lek. A taxi from Tirana to Koman (to catch the ferry to Valbona) costs around 120 euros. The Koman ferry itself costs 8 EUR.
