Car
If driving, start from the town of Shkodra and head east on the SH1 road towards Koplik. Take the exit toward the SH21 road that leads to Malësia. Continue on SH21 for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the village of Breg-Lumi. From there, follow the signs towards the Maja e Urishtes trailhead. The road may become unpaved, so ensure your vehicle is equipped for rough terrain. The last stretch requires driving on a dirt path for about 10 kilometers, which may take an additional 30 minutes. Parking is available near the trailhead. Note that cell service may be spotty in remote areas.
Public Transportation
To reach Maja e Urishtes using public transportation, take a bus from Shkodra to Koplik. Buses run frequently and cost around 100 ALL (Albanian Lek). Upon arriving in Koplik, catch a local minibus or taxi to Breg-Lumi, approximately 10 kilometers away. The cost for this leg will be about 200 ALL by minibus or around 800 ALL for a taxi. Once in Breg-Lumi, look for signs to the Maja e Urishtes trailhead. Be aware that public transport options may be limited, so plan your return accordingly.
Hiking
After reaching the trailhead near Breg-Lumi, prepare for a hike. The trek to Maja e Urishtes is approximately 5 kilometers and takes about 2-3 hours to complete, depending on your pace. Follow the marked trails, keeping an eye out for signposts. The path is generally well-defined but can be steep and rocky in sections, so proper hiking shoes are recommended. Bring plenty of water and snacks for the journey, as there are no facilities along the trail.
