Walking
From the center of Himarë, the castle is approximately a 2.5 km uphill walk. The walk is steep and can take around 45 minutes to an hour. Follow the main road (SH8) north, and then turn towards the old town (Himara Fshat). The path is narrow, but there is a pedestrian pavement. Be prepared for a strenuous hike, especially in the heat.
Taxi/Car
Taxis are readily available in Himarë. A taxi ride to the castle takes around 10 minutes from the town center. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey. If driving, follow the SH8 north and turn towards Himara Fshat. There is a free parking lot near the entrance to the old town, but it can get crowded during the summer. Parking is free.
Public Transport
Local buses or vans (furgons) run along the SH8. Check locally for schedules and confirm that the bus stops near Himara Castle. From the bus stop on the main road, it is still a short walk uphill to the castle entrance.
