Getting there

Walking

If you are already in Himarë, many trailheads are accessible by foot. For example, to reach trails near the center of Himarë, head southwest along the SH8 highway. The walk takes approximately 20-30 minutes from the main square. Look for landmarks such as the beach to guide you.

Public Transport

For trailheads further afield, consider using local buses. Buses connect Himarë with other towns along the Albanian Riviera, such as Dhërmi. Check local timetables for the most up-to-date information, as schedules can be unreliable. A bus from Himarë to Dhërmi costs $14-$17 and takes 40 minutes.

Taxi

Taxis are available in Himarë, but negotiate the price before you begin your journey. A taxi from Himarë to Dhërmi will cost approximately $29-$35 and takes 27 minutes. For destinations further away, such as Tirana, a taxi will cost between 130-160 euros.

Car

If driving, head southwest on the SH8 highway from the center of Himarë. Many hiking areas are marked along the way. Be aware that roads can be bumpy. Parking can be found by searching "Private Parking Himare" on Google Maps, with costs of 300 Lek for 3 hours and 700 Lek for the day.

The village of Pilur, located in the mountains behind Himarë, is also accessible via a scenic, moderately challenging hike.Himarë itself is a town steeped in history, having survived invasions and empires. The trails around Himarë provide not only physical activity but also a chance to connect with the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
