Walking
From Sheshi Çerçiz Topulli (the main square in the old town), most attractions are easily accessible on foot. The Gjirokastër Castle is a steep uphill walk from the square, approximately 15-20 minutes. Follow the cobblestone path leading upwards, passing traditional houses and shops. There is a 200 lek entrance fee to the Castle, with additional fees of 200 lek each for the Armaments Museum, prison, and Gjirokastra Museum.

If arriving in Gjirokastër by bus from Saranda or Tirana, the bus will drop you off at the foot of the hill leading to the old town. From Boulevard 18 Shatori, take a city bus (costing 30 lek) to Sheshi Çerçiz Topulli in the old town. From there, you can walk to most attractions.

Taxis are available in Gjirokastër, and can be hailed from the street or found near the bus station and main square. A short taxi ride from the lower town to the old town or Gjirokastër Castle will cost approximately 200-300 lek. Confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey.
