Qafshtama National Park, situated in the edge of the mountain chain north of Tirana, approximately 22 kilometers east of Kruja, is a captivating destination named after the Qafë-Shtamë passage. Established in 1996, this 2000-hectare park boasts a diverse landscape of stunning mountain scenery, dominated by lush pine and oak forests, complemented by small lakes and abundant water sources.The park's fame stems from its well-known curative water values, drawn from the surrounding springs. The air here is exceptionally fresh, with minimal carbon dioxide, believed to alleviate symptoms of chronic asthma, lung disease, and weakened immune systems. The most significant water source, Kroi i Nenës Mbretëreshë (Source of the Queen Mother), is celebrated for its purity and health benefits. Legend has it that the Albanian Royal Family received a daily supply of this water after a Vienna laboratory declared it the country's best in 1932.Qafshtama offers a variety of activities for nature enthusiasts. Scenic hiking trails wind through the park, catering to all fitness levels, with diverse terrain suitable for both casual walkers and avid hikers. The park is also a retreat for various wildlife, including brown bears, wolves, foxes and diverse bird species. The highest points within the park, Maja e Liqenit (1724 meters) and Maja i Rjepat e Qetkolës (1686 meters), offer panoramic views.
