If you are in the central area of Tirana, the Opera & Ballet Theatre is easily accessible by foot. From Skanderbeg Square, head towards the National History Museum. Continue straight, and the theatre will be on your left. The walk is approximately 5-10 minutes.
Public Transport

Tirana has an extensive public transportation system. Many bus lines have stops around Skanderbeg Square in the city center. A non-transfer ticket costs 40 Lek. Check local bus routes for the most convenient option.
Taxi

Taxis are readily available in Tirana. An average ride within the city shouldn't cost more than 500 Lek. It's best to agree on the price in advance. Taxi companies include Speed Taxi, UPS Taxi and AutoHoliday Taxi. The base fare is 300 Lek, and each KM is priced at 300 Lek. A 5km ride will cost about 1800 ALL.
Parking

If driving, underground parking is available at Skanderbeg Square. Parking costs 200 Lek for 0-3 hours, 500 Lek for 3-8 hours, 800 Lek for 8-12 hours, and 500 Lek for 12-24 hours. Note that a missing ticket is sanctioned with a 3,000 Lek fine.

Situated on the iconic Skanderbeg Square, the theatre is the largest in the country and a historical landmark that embodies the passion and creativity of Albania's artistic community.Founded on November 29, 1953, the theatre initially operated within the University of Arts of Albania before moving to the Palace of Culture of Tirana in central Tirana. The Opera House helped develop the capital's arts scene, providing a dedicated venue for performances. Since its inception, groups and orchestras from various countries have performed here. The theatre is under the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports and is financed by the state budget.The theatre's architecture is captivating, blending seamlessly with the modern urban landscape. Inside, the opulent interiors provide an intimate setting that enhances the overall experience. The theatre is equipped with modern facilities while retaining its historical charm. In 2016, the Prime Minister of Albania announced that the Theatre would be reconstructed. A rehabilitation project modernized the theater experience while respecting its heritage, blending old and new architectural elements. The revitalized theater hosts a diverse range of cultural activities and boasts enhanced visual connections with the city square, featuring open spaces that transform into public areas during performances.Today, the Opera presents works by Albanian and international composers. A typical season, running from September to June, entertains over 100,000 people with 150 or more performances, from full operas and theater to small ensemble concerts.
