Discover more about Santuario de Hajji Mustafa Baba

Located within the ancient Krujë Castle, the Santuario de Hajji Mustafa Baba is a significant religious and historical site. This Bektashi shrine, also known as the Haxhi Mustafa Baba Tekke, provides a peaceful retreat and insight into Albania's Sufi heritage. The tekke was built in 1779-1780 AD by Adem Aga Toptani. The sanctuary consists of two parts and houses three tombs dedicated to prophets. Inside, you can find the marble tomb of Adem Aga Toptani. The site may have originally been a mosque, as suggested by the presence of a mihrab (prayer niche). Before its destruction by the Communist dictatorship, the tekke of Krujë had 360 holy graves and was known as "Little Khorasan". Visitors can explore the small mosque room and observe the Turkish headstones at the gravesite. A 'famous' 500-year-old olive tree, planted at Skanderbeg's death, also stands on the grounds. While the site is currently undergoing restoration, it remains a mystical place worth exploring for history enthusiasts.
