    From the northern end of Pëllumbas village, a marked 2.3 km trail leads to the cave entrance. The hike typically takes around one hour. Follow the signs for Shpella e Pëllumbasit through the Skorana Gorge. Be prepared for some steep and rocky sections. There is no entrance fee.

    Public Transport

    From Tirana, take a bus from the South East Terminal towards Pëllumbas. Buses depart at 7:00, 13:00, and 17:00. The ride to Pëllumbas village takes approximately 35 minutes. From Pëllumbas village, follow the walking directions to the cave entrance. Bus fare is approximately 100-200 Lek. Alternatively, take a bus to Iba village and walk an extra 4 km to Pëllumbas.

    From Tirana, a taxi to Pëllumbas village costs approximately $35 - $45 and takes around 24 minutes. From Pëllumbas village, follow the walking directions to the cave entrance.     Shpella e Pëllumbasit, or Pëllumbas Cave, also known as the Black Cave (Shpella e Zezë), is a captivating natural and archaeological site located near Pëllumbas village in Tirana County. Situated in the Skorana Gorge within Dajti National Park, this cave is recognized as a natural monument of national and international significance. Archaeological studies suggest that the cave was inhabited by humans as far back as the Paleolithic era, approximately 10,000 years ago. Evidence of early human activity, including fire-making and primitive tool crafting, has been discovered within the cave. The cave also contains remains of the extinct cave bear (Ursus spelaeus), which lived between 400,000 and 10,000 years ago. The cave itself is one of the largest in Albania, stretching 360 meters in length. It features impressive stalactites, stalagmites, and karst formations.
