Buses typically depart every 30 minutes, and the journey takes approximately 35 minutes. From the center of Petrelë, it's about a 20-30 minute uphill walk (1 km) to the castle along Rruga Petreles. Bus fare is around 100-300 ALL.

Located in the village of Petrelë, a short drive from Tirana, Petrela Castle is a captivating historical site with origins tracing back to the 6th century AD, during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I. The structure seen today largely dates from the 15th century.Strategically positioned 329 meters (1,079 ft) above sea level, Petrela Castle was an integral part of the signaling and defense network of Krujë Castle; fires were used to communicate between the castles. During Skanderbeg's resistance against the Ottomans, the castle was commanded by Mamica Kastrioti, Skanderbeg's sister, adding to its historical significance.The castle has a triangular shape with two observation towers. Visitors can explore the grounds and enjoy views of the Erzen valley, rolling hills, olive groves, and surrounding mountains. A restaurant located within the castle offers traditional Albanian cuisine, providing a unique dining experience with a historical backdrop.
