The Cloud: Tirana's Ethereal Art Installation

The Cloud, or Reja, is a captivating art installation located in front of the National Gallery of Arts in Tirana. Designed by Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, it was initially commissioned for the Serpentine Gallery in London in 2013 and relocated to Tirana in 2016. The structure resembles a giant, ethereal cloud, constructed from a delicate network of white steel bars.Visitors are encouraged to interact with the artwork, climbing on top or finding a seat underneath, offering a unique perspective of the city. The semi-transparent canopy provides shelter while allowing visitors to remain connected to the surrounding landscape. The Cloud serves as a modern art space, hosting various cultural events and exhibitions, making it a vibrant hub for both locals and tourists.At approximately 541 square meters and reaching a height of up to 7 meters, The Cloud operates as an independent space, hosting a full schedule of activities in cooperation with local cultural partners, educational institutions, and communities. It has become a symbol of Tirana's evolving identity, blending modern innovation with the city's rich heritage. During the warm summer evenings, The Cloud transforms into an atmospheric stage for musicians and theater performances.
